The Tilted Chicken

I seen a cool altered wiper card and had to give it a try. But, one thing I learned.... if you're making it on a live video you really need to check that everything works! And I love this stamp set from Scrapbook.com!!

(I made a standard wiper card on April 7 which you can find on my YouTube channel and posted it here on April 8.) After my video I did get my card fixed and here it is!

This is the closed card. Pretty cool....

So do you want the measurements and directions? Here goes! I used all Fun Stampers Journey card stocks that are in my stash.

I cut the blue base 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" and scored at 1 1/2" and 3". Fold as shown.

I cut the green base 2" x 8 1/2" and scored at 1 1/2" and 3". Fold as shown.

I cut the wiper 7/8" x 1 7/8". Measure down one side 7/8" and score diagonally. Fold.

I cut off the tip of the folded diagonal and adhered as shown on the inside of the 2" strip. On my first card I adhered the wiper on the section to the right of this one.  I wanted my chick to pop up differently.  Good application but it had some issues on video.

Make sure when you attach the diagonal piece that the little wiper strip does not show above green piece. You may need to refer to my April 7 video for more explanation. Anyway, this is how the wiper should look at this point.

I added my picket fence to the front of the green and cut and adjusted it so then the green folded the fence would still look good.  I added Score Tape to the pieces as shown.

On my video this is where I was having problems.  My chicken was too wide to pop up! I trimmed my wiper and chicken until it finally worked. Actually I really couldn't do this before as I would have had no way to know the chicken was too wide. I adhered the chicken a number of times with a hint of double stick adhesive until I finally got it to work. Yay!

Now, I bet you're wondering how I came up with my post title. I had to tilt my chicken on the wiper arm a bit (and cut off a bit of her bottom) so she'd fit and would pop up as intended. She still sticks just a bit but can be pushed up from underneath when that happens. Much better. She can also stick in the fence pickets so you have to be careful when folding closed.

I stamped my phrase then adhered more chickens and some eggs.  A couple clouds were added and my card is complete! It will fit in an A2 envelope but will need a 1 ounce stamp with regular postage to mail.

I was telling my friend Angie who watched my Live yesterday how I fixed the wiper are chicken. Her hubby started laughing and came up with this post title.  He said now it sounds a bit like an old English pub name. Good thing I didn't tell about cutting off the chicken's bottom a bit. No telling what he'd come up with on that!

Whew! This card ended up being quite a challenge but I love how it turned out! It took some patience but it was worth it!
