Celebrate!

Happy 2022 and New Year! Seems we barely started 2021 and a whole year has gone by! I'm sharing a card today to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another.

I used a few products from my stash as I have little with this theme from my affiliates. The celebrate is from a retired Spellbinders die set called Phrase Set Two.  I've used it quite a bit. The stars are from a punch by Marvy that I've had for YEARS! The starred vellum, print paper, celebrate stamp, and silver thread are also retired from Spellbinders.

You can just make out the celebrate that I stamped on the rectangle. My MISTI was great in getting the words lined up evenly. I didn't want them to overwhelm the die cut and punches so I added the vellum layer. Worked pretty good.

Do you celebrate New Year's Eve? We usually stay home to avoid traffic.

Another Pinwheel Tower Card

I was challenged to make another Pinwheel Tower card and this one has 12 flaps.... yes, 12. It wasn't hard but it was time consuming. I even made a video that you can watch on my YouTube channel (link in the sidebar) and give it a try!

I have a lot of photos to share and I haven't finished the card!

This is looking down on the top. You can see each side has 3 flaps with 1 going the opposite direction of the top and bottom flaps!

I have very little Valentine or Anniversary products or that will fit these flaps so many are empty. But you can add white or lightly colored layers and write on them. The Love and You are from a Spellbinders die set called Love You More. The blue heart is from their retired Heart Felt die set then I embossed it and layered it on the same red as the Love & You. All the print paper is old Spellbinders pads from long ago.

This is my base with measurements and score lines along with the size of the flaps.

Here I've scored my base. The small adhesive flapped is adhered inside the card.

You should watch my video for the basic assembly. I have found many great samples on Pinterest but this design I got at our local stamp club in Tucson.

Last Workdesk of the Year

In a few days we'll be writing 2022 on our documents. That just boggles my mind! So, as I am preparing for this morning's video (a 12 flap pinwheel tower card) I'm joining up with Julia of the Stamping Ground for week 656. I missed the last week trying to finish getting ready for Christmas.

I have my card mostly finished and have templates ready to show. When I took this photo yesterday I had about 10 minutes left of prep. If you look closer you can tell it's a Valentine's card.

Much has happened with our friend whose dog we were caring for. The dog was taken to a local animal shelter that cares for pets of those in the hospital. The dog has gotten baths (badly needed) and nails clipped (badly needed). The facility even takes him for walks! But our friend checked himself into hospice. He's been so sick and he's ready to leave this earth. We visited him for a couple hours on Monday and I've been in some contact with his sister. She and her husband are coming any day to do what is needed with Ken's final needs, expenses, and all. This breaks my heart but Ken is tired.

Next thing is since I recovered from the virus 2 months ago I'm now having hair loss. Not extreme but WAY more than normal.  I found a support group on FB (over 6 K membership!) and the gals are very helpful and encouraging. I got 5 - 6" of hair cut off to jaw length. I almost cried seeing all that hair on the floor at the salon. This won't stop the loss but it make it more manageable, supposedly. And my hair guy gave me info if I need to order a wig but I've been told that the more severe the virus the more severe the loss. I had it pretty mild so hoping the loss won't be bad.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We stayed home and I cooked a prime rib that our daughter sent. And hubby assembled a pellet grill/smoker that we got for ourselves. Will try it out next week as we have so much prime rib to finish!

I got a bit long winded but so much has happened in the past 2 weeks!  I hope you all have a wonderful and safe new year!

Hold the Balm

I made a couple lip balm holders to give as a gift and I used scraps mostly and a great die set from Scrapbook.com.

These were quite easy to make. Each uses a 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of card stock for the base and a 1" x 3" piece for the holder inside.

I scored the base at 2 1/4" then rotated and scored again at 2 1/4", fold.

The holder was scored at 3/4", rotated and scored again at 3/4", fold. I glued the ends of this to the base lining up the folds and centering.

The Merry Christmas is from Scrapbook.com but I couldn't find it on their site! I've linked it before but who knows where it went. There are MANY great dies sets on their site similar.

Just by changing the print papers and sentiment these can be made for ANY occasion!

Christmas Greetings

I've still got cards to share after my card making blitz a week before Christmas. These cards use a variety of products from Scrapbook.com to Spellbinders and more!

I received the Holly strips (was originally 1 12" strip) in a gift bag a couple years ago and finally used it! I made the same layout using 2 different base colors and embossing folders.

Since my base paper was white core I sanded it after embossing. I like that look! And I switched the greetings so they would pop more.  A few gold circular stickers was used to add subtle embellishments.

I will be sharing quite a few Christmas cards this week so I hope you don't get bored!
