A Messy Desk and Lemonade

It's to be a cold and possibly rainy day today but I don't have time to create at my desk.  If you follow me you know that each Wednesday I try to hook up with Julia at the Stamping Ground and other fellow crafters to give you the opportunity to see my desk.  If you're so inclined you can even join up with us if you have a pic of your desk and check out how HERE.Well, I'm working at my computer desk instead as I prepare my spreadsheets for tax time.  I did get our personal stuff and hubby's contract labor stuff done yesterday.  Today I'll be working on my stamp stuff.  Yes, I do have to file taxes on it as I get a 1099 from the company I'm affiliated with.

My desk is loaded with stuff unloaded from my totes last Friday after my class. Oh, there's some of my Easter cards just to the right of my Cricut on the left. And my March 16 class cards just in front of those. Hmmm, stamps from the class front and center along with assorted tools.  My card sample for my March 9 class is center back, the brown funny shaped one. And far right is some stuff sitting on my ATG adhesive runner and my Amaze machine far right front. Right back, stuff that really needs to find a place to go.

I had to go looking for a card to share with you today.  This one was a sketch challenge by an associate.

I used all Fun Stampers Journey products except for the straw.  I decided I wanted to look forward to a bit warmer weather and this card celebrates that.

I used our Color Burst colored pencils to color (that's a lot of color...  LOL!) the lemon wedges. Looks yummy to me!

Please now head over to the Stamping Ground and check out all the links to other desks and enjoy!  We may even pass each other across the web as I take breaks and look around.

Grateful For You

I have another fun February Bloom Box card to share with you today.  I love the design of the flowers in this cool set, Spread Happiness.  You still have until Wednesday evening to order this fun box but as of Thursday at 12:01 am, you're out of luck.  But then as of that time you can order the March Bloom Box.  Here's a picture of the March cards you'll be making:

I just LOVE this Bloom Box, too! I love the mountains and come from the northwest part of Wyoming.  This stamp set, A Great Adventure, reminds me of the mountains of Yellowstone Park and the surrounding Rockies that I have ridden horseback through many times! That was an adventure to see the Big Horn Sheep, deer, elk, and an occasional bear track.  Great fun and fabulous memories. I'll have more info on my FSJ Specials page soon.  Now, back to my card...

I have mislaid my booklet of directions and supplies so I'm hoping I get all this right.
Card stocks: Whip Cream, Lemon Drop, Lavender Fusion, and Limeade Splash
Ink: Black Licorice
Silk: Black Licorice
Coloring Medium: Color Splash Pencils and a Small Blending Brush
Embellishments: Candy Minis, Sparkle Dust, Journey Glaze
Dies: Hexagon set
Other: Amaze machine, Foam Squares, White Liner Tape

Here's a closer look at the double flower image with the Glaze and Sparkle Dust in the flower centers. Just GORGEOUS!

I also have just gotten the specials for next month.  I will have all this new info uploaded sometime tomorrow so stay tuned!

Also, head over to FaceBook and my page, Stampin Hot with Carol, and see the short Live video of my class last Friday!  The gals had a great time and everyone said hello!

Choose Happy

If you viewed last week's video you seen this card but it was a relatively short glimpse.  It's one of the 4 from our February Bloom Box that you can still order as supplies last.  You can even get the coordinating die set (which is what I did).   Here is my card....

I stamped the 2 flowers randomly on the background to start. There are some fun embellishments on this card, can you figure them out?  Well, I'll start with the card stocks used: Whip Cream, Lavender Fusion, and Lemon Drop. I only used Black Licorice ink.

I used our PanPastels to color, all from the Rich Sorbets collection. Our Sofft Tools worked wonderfully to apply the pastels. After coloring I splatted some Cosmic Grape Silk then applied a bit of Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust to the flower centers.

I stamped and die cut the text. I used Foam Squares to adhere it to the strip of Whip Cream card stock that has some Whip Cream Sparkle Tape on it.  And the other embellishment used are Whip Cream Thread tied to a Paper Clip Element on the flower panel. Isn't this card just so bright and cheery!

This morning I have a class so I'll be busy.  I have 8 or 9 gals coming to make Birthday cards! Will be great fun!

Work Desk and Mystery Item Card

If you have been following  me for long you know that each Wednesday, when I'm able, I take part in a weekly blog hop of desks. I've been doing this for about 5 years.  Yeah, and this fun weekly get together has been going on for over 8 years!  It was started and is keep together by Julia at the Stamping Ground.   I took my desk picture yesterday afternoon as the light is better and I'm usually in the middle of a project.  This time is no different.

I've been trying to upload my pics here a little bigger but sometimes Blogger gets a little finicky and stalls. Hopefully if you want to click on the picture you can get it a bunch bigger.  I'm working on the first of 4 card kits for a class on Friday.  I have 8 reservations and 1 tentative (she was ill yesterday) so I'm making 10 kits.  I usually use 1 to show what we're to do. So, far left front, the directions & supply list.  Middle, paper trimmer and starting to cut the card stock. Far right, scraps. Back, all kinds of stuff.

I do have a project to show you.  This Saturday is our monthly stampers group meeting, SALSA.  That stands for Stampers At Large Stamping Away.  And since this is the southwest of the U.S. it is a very popular dip or sauce, whatever. And I needed to make a card using a mystery item we got last month at our meeting.  It was a sheet of tissue with large green chili peppers and small red chili peppers.

I cut out a bunch of each peppers and ran them through my little X machine sticker maker. I did a poor job adhering them on my card front but it is kinda wild.  I also stamped a FSJ image that works well with the theme along with one for the orange background.

I added some sparkle to the sombrero and eyes and some Black Silk (a very liquid ink for splattering). My hubby laughed when I showed him my card and was surprised that I cut every chili pepper out by hand and adhered them.  I even cut one out and adhered to the envelope as we are required to have a decorated one with the card.

And if you want a laugh, my last post has a YouTube video of me demonstrating making a card.  It's 11 minutes and hilarious.  I struggled not to laugh a couple times and did give a good guffaw at one point.  It was a FaceBook Live video for my business page but I found out how to make it a YouTube to share on my blog.  You will hear me say hello to gals who came one while I was recording. Warning, I am promoting the company I'm with in this video.

Ok, now you've reached the end of this post.  I hope you enjoyed my desk and project. Please head over to the Stamping Ground for links to more desks.  I'll be going here and there as I have to get 3 more sets of card kits made (that's 30 more to go!) today.  And have a great day!

February Bloom Box Card Video

Yesterday I did my FaceBook Friday video showcasing a card from our February Bloom Box.  It only took me an hour to get that video saved to YouTube to share here.  If you want to subscribe to my YouTube channel go to Carol Norby.

Anyway, here's my video...

Do you want a closer look at the card? Actually I made 2, the 1 in the video is on the right and the left one I made from pieces I used to demo on in the video.  I didn't have any more ribbon so I used Whip Cream thread and Rainbow Drops on the left card.

And the supplies used, not including the Rainbow Drops...

I have not linked back to my shopping cart except for the Rainbow Drops but with the SKU they will be easy to locate via the Search Box.

I hope you liked my video and cards.  I'll be working on another project for next Friday.

Special Cards for Customers

As I was at a crop a couple weeks ago (has it been that long??) I made some cards that I hope to give to customers with their orders.

I used a Host Exclusive stamp set, Pretty Petals.  I just got it and it is so pretty!  One can get it FREE with a $300 order or more. It even has a coordinating die set!!  I also used Rich Coral card stock and ink along with Whip Cream card stock and some Rainbow Drops. I think it turned out real nice.  I now have 4 to share!

This is a short post as today I'm prepping for another FB Live video and will be making a card. I don't want to do it totally off the cuff.  About 2 pm MST head over to Stampin Hot With Carol on FB and give it a watch!

Desks and Valentines

Well, it's Wednesday.  Hump Day. VALENTINE'S DAY! Desk day. Desk day???  Yep, today you get a look at my desk and, by visiting Julia at the Stamping Ground, you get the links to many other desks and frequently, great projects!  Today I'll share my desk, the Valentine I made for my hubby, and a couple other Valentine-y things..

My desk is pretty boring.  I just cleaned it from making a couple sample cards for a March class.  I'm not ready to share those yet.  But, my desk and my shadow as I photographed it...  Far left, one of the 2 cards, a package of red & pink pom poms, paper, then dies & stamps sitting on some white card stock.  Middle... nothing but behind the grid paper is a pile of Easter cards I need to package to take to the store where I sell them.  Far right, my OTT light, my ATG adhesive roller, a pile of scraps, and the edge of my Amaze machine.  Yep, boring.  But I will be busy later this morning as I work on 2 more cards so I can advertise my class. And I already have 7 gals signed up!

And now my hubby's card...

I made a Z Fold Box Card.  I taught a class last Friday on how to make this style of card and my 5 gals did an amazing job of decorating their cards! I should have taken pictures but we were having so much fun!

I used all Fun Stampers Journey products to make my card.

Yesterday I helped supply treats to our ladies Bible Study.  I made these candy covered Pretzel rods to celebrate Valentine's Day.  They were a big hit!  Came home with about 10 as the ladies were taking some home to share and save!  What a hoot!

And to celebrate this Love holiday I changed out my pendant (FSJ products) to hearts with a red background. I'll wear it to church tonight, too.

I hope now that you've reached the end of my post that you'll head over to the Stamping Ground and check out the other desks involved in this weekly get together!

Birthday Macaroons

I know Valentine's Day is tomorrow but I'm not quite ready to share my card for my hubby.  But I will share a 3rd card I'll be teaching Feb. 23 in Green Valley, AZ.

I've been focusing on just 2 stamp sets for this class.  The macaroons are from the Let's Eat Cake stamp set and the Celebrate from the Celebration Script Bundle.   I used the following card stocks: Whip Cream, Beach Breeze, Watermelon Fusion, Lemon Drop, and Project Me Prints.   I only used 1 ink, Black Licorice.  But I did use a variety of other products: Deco Strips Black, Journey Glaze, Color Burst Pencils, Star Burst Bloom die set (bigger circles), a 1/4" hole punch (from my stock), White Liner Tape, Foam Squares, and the Amaze machine.

This card is almost a duplicate from the one we made at Leadership Conference in Texas last month. I loved the bright colors.  My class will all get a small tube of Journey Glaze (as seen in the first picture) to take home and do their glazing.  It is just too messy and takes too long to dry to do in class. I put it on the case of macaroons and on the little circles.

Feb. Mystery Boxes Revealed

Yesterday I made a FaceBook Live Video revealing what as in my Mystery Boxes that are on special this month.  I received 2 for having a $200 + order then I purchased 1 for $25.  The 2 FREE ones had approx. $50 in retired products and the purchased one had about $100 in retired product.  BUT the purchased one also had a chance to have a golden Unicorn which qualifies the recipient to receive the cool Journey Girl tote and about $75 in current products.

Well, I did some investigating on how to save a FB Live video into a YouTube video.  Here it is...

I hope it works.  One funny thing that happened before I made this video was I had to stop by our bank.  Two of the tellers were surprised to see me and asked me what was I doing there, I was supposed to be home doing my Live!  What a hoot!

Let me know what you think.  I do have a tendency to get a bit comedic when rushed.

Tuesday Morning Sketch 439 and More

I almost didn't get a card made this week for the Tuesday Morning Sketch.  Between work, prepping for a class, a sick hubby, and more I've been feeling a bit stretched.  But I did get this one done and I love the simplicity.

Here is the challenge sketch:

And here is my card...

I decided to stay with a simple white with a touch of color.   I used only 1 color of card stock, Whip Cream.  It is hard to see but I embossed the 3 sections with our I Heart embossing folder and splattered with Sparkle Silk.  I tied some Whip Cream Thread around the card front.

I die cut another piece of Whip Cream card stock using our Ovals dies and piercing elements and used foam squares to adhere it (like I did the 3 embossed sections).  The only stamping is the cross and sentiment and I used 2 stamp bundles (stamps and coordinating dies), Easter Blessings and Hope Anchors (these 2 products are available through March 31) using Lavender Fusion ink.  I finished off the card with 3 Pearls in the upper right corner.

I just realized I didn't share an Easter card I made last week for another sketch challenge on FB through some fellow FSJ demos. I haven't even shared this on my FB page!  Oh, I'm slacking off!  LOL!

I used the same stamp bundle on this card but more of the stamps in the bundle and a sentiment from the Color Cross set. I used 4 card stocks, Whip Cream, Lemongrass, Sweet Pear, and Spring Filled Prints collection. I used an assortment of inks (and I don't remember which ones except for Black Licorice!), and a Fresh Cuts flower.

Here's a close up of the Fresh Cut flower and I added some swipes of Sparkle Silk to it for some pop.

Ok, this was a rather long post.  But head over to Tuesday Morning Sketches for lots of inspiration for the sketch and those who are playing along!

Work Desk and Milk Cartons

Hmmm, I bet you're wondering about my post title. How do these items go together?  Well, they don't. But today is Wednesday, the day I share my desk top with you in whatever shape it's in and I am sharing a project along with it.  My desk was very busy yesterday afternoon as I worked on a project for Valentine's Day for our 2 great grandsons, yes, great grandsons. They are 7 and 2 but they both have birthdays in May.   Oh, and this fun tour de desks is put together by Julia, our head desker at the Stamping Ground.  Head over there at the end of my post and check out a bunch of desks and projects!

I am about done with my project in this picture.  You can see my red Cricut (sadly not getting used), some dies and stuff in front of it. Center working right of my desk is my project laying on its side, some stamps I used on it, some candy,  some paper scraps that I need to put away, my Black ink pad, my pack of paper I just finished with, and my Platinum machine (a BIG die cutter). And there is various whatnots all over, tools, twine, and so on.

And what did I finish making?

I made a little milk carton of candy for the oldest of the great grandsons!  I got this die in December and it is so fun!  All products are from Fun Stampers Journey.

I did some paper piecing on the 2 dinosaurs for fun.  They really pop!  And the 2 cartons together...

I will have these in the mail Friday. I still need to make 1 more little goodie for our almost 3 year old grandson.  Not sure yet what I'll make.

Anyway, I'm done.  I had a few more pictures than usual but I had to post the whole set. Please head over to the Stamping Ground and check out more desks and projects!  But before you go I'd appreciate a comment of what you thought of my milk cartons!  And I'll be checking the links myself so maybe we'll cross paths!

A Simple Birthday Card

I've been pretty busy lately so decided to share another card I'll be teaching at my Feb. 23 class.

I did a simple colorblocking for the background using the following card stocks:
Turbo Teal, Whip Cream, Watermelon Fusion, and prints from our Project Me collection.

I stamped the text from our new Celebration Script Bundle using Citrus Cooler ink on Whip Cream card stock and die cut.  I splattered the card front with some Sparkle Silk and added the 3 Spring Accent Dots.

Other products used: Easy Glide Runner, Foam Squares, Amaze machine.

Three of the four cards I'm teaching are relatively easy as the 4th card will take a bit of time. I'll share it soon.

FB Live Video

Some of you know I have a FB business account and today for the FIRST time ever I made a card on video!  I have had other short informational videos but this was a toughy for me, way out of my comfort zone!   I'm hoping to do a FaceBook Friday video every week but do know that I will miss some days.  Here's a look at the picture of what I made.

I send out Easter cards to family and this idea has been floating around my mind for a while. The little bunny die, Hop Cuts, is a FREEBIE you can select with a $100 order! Other product used:
Card stocks: Tangerine Fusion, Orange Creamsicle, and Whip Cream
Ink: Tangerine Fusion
Stamps: Hope Anchors Bundle
Pom Minis
Whip Cream Thread
Embossing Folders: I Heart and Diamond Netting
Easy Glide Runner, Foam Squares, Glue Dots
Amaze machine

I made a little decoration with the left over die cut bunny.

I used the same thread and Pom but just adhered him to a paper straw. Wouldn't this be cute as a table decoration? Or adhere him instead to a large paper clip and use in your planner!

A New Tuesday Morning Sketch

I've been a bit awol in doing the sketch challenges over at Tuesday Morning Sketches but got this one done about Wednesday afternoon.  It is Sketch #438 and here's the design:

I pretty much stayed with the sketch and used it for a card sample for a Feb. 23 class I'll be teaching.  Are you ready?

It's weird how the stamped layer looks like it's sticking out but that's just an optical illusion, this is a standard A2 card, no wonky shapes.  I used a new set called Let's Eat Cake that I just got three weeks ago.  It's in our Bloom This Way Trends Mini catalog.  The cool print paper is out of our Spring Filled Prints collection.  And on top of the cake are embellishments called Rainbow Drops.  I just restocked those recently.

The Rainbow Drops do need some glue dots as they're not self adhesive but I'm fine with that, who doesn't have oodles of glue dots?

I had trouble getting the light right to show off the Happy Birthday banner.  I used our Journey Glaze on it then sprinkled it with some Sparkle Dust (a very fine glitter).  It really pops!

Other products used are:
Card stocks: Whip Cream, Rich Coral, Cool Pool, and Pineapple Smoothie
Ink: Black Licorice
Color Burst Pencils
Glue Dots, Foam Squares, Easy Glide Runner
Grand Pro Shears and Details Pro Shears

This is now the end of my post and so please head over to Tuesday Morning Sketches for a lot of others who used this sketch! And by the way, Happy Groundhog Day!
