Hey Sunshine!

I finally finished the 4th card for my April 24 video class. Yep, video.  With all that's happening right now and the required social distancing I will again be teaching this class from my workdesk! And this card is one of the easy ones yet it is very pretty!

I LOVE this "Beautiful Friendship" stamp set by Fun Stampers Journey! The sentiment is a set from Simon Says Stamp called "Handlettered Encouragement".   I used my Momento Tuxedo Black ink for it since it's a clear stamp and I found that for me fusion inks just don't give a real good image.

But I did use FSJ fusion inks for the flower and they work wonderfully on rubber stamps.  The box comes from my package of Pumpkin Patch Bows. I worked my colors of my card around the bow! Turned out pretty good, don't you think?  A little bit of Clear Wink of Stella or Stardust Clear Gel pen on the cone of the flower adds just a touch of bling!

Build a Magnolia

Yesterday I assembled this card using Altenew's "Build A Flower: Magnolia" stamp set & die.  My first attempt didn't look good but my 2nd turned out gorgeous! I made a FB live video as I was putting the card together and  I also have it on my YouTube channel.

I chose not to show how to stamp this gorgeous flower as there are pretty decent directions on the back of the package plus on Altenew's website. And watching me stamp this would be like watching paint dry.  (I used to paint houses for a living, inside and out.)  I used mostly the little Momento Dew Drop dye inks for stamping as I have the worst time getting a good image with my fusion inks.  (I think it's mostly me, not the inks.) I did use FSJ's Whip Cream ink on the black piece then heat set it so it wouldn't smear.

You can see in the close up that the base color didn't stamp solidly but I like the effect I got. I used 3 colors for the flower and 2 for the leaves.  I used my Stardust Clear Gel Pen on the veins of the petals and leaves for a bit of bling.  A few Fun Stampers Journey pearls finished the card.

It does take a bit of patience to make this flower.  I'm glad I had a stamp positioner to help me keep the layers lined up to stamp.

Have you played with multi layer stamps like this?  And tips or hints?

Sequestered Wednesday

If you're like us, you are staying mostly inside to fight the virus.  I do get out to get our mail (1 mile drive to our post office) or to the grocery store.  But we do have some acreage so I'm out in my garden and the such getting fresh air, sunshine, hanging out laundry, whatever.  But today you get to see what's happening on my desk all courtesy of linking up with Julia at the Stamping Ground.

Needless to say, my desk is empty.  I finished a project early yesterday afternoon, tidied my desk, and am now trying to figure out what to do next.

I tidied the area between my glass mat and my ink rack. I found my stash of plastic boxes and now have all those little pieces of die cut stuff contained!  YAY!  But I also have my green folder of the cards I'll be teaching via video to my gals on April 24.  So far 6 of the 12 class kits have been spoken for, some already paid and I just got my newsletter out about the class on Monday!  I'll start making the kits later this week to mail out between April 15 and 17.

If you want to see what I just finished before this picture you'll have to check tomorrow's post. It's the last card I had to make for the class.  I have links with the post so I couldn't share it on this post.

So head over to the Stamping Ground and check out the links to other desks.  And happy April 1!

Blue Magnolias & You

Quite a while ago I purchased a gorgeous stamp set from Altenew called Build A Flower: Magnolia.  I really wanted to use this stamp set in one of my classes yet I had to make the card kinda easy as that's the way they like it.

Can you believe this is the last day of March!!!! Where did it go?? Days seem to melt into each other with this staying at home stuff.

So, I went to Altenew's website and the stamp set and, oh my gosh, for the gorgeous cards!!!  I chose one that I thought my gals would like and kinda changed it a bit for them.

There are 5 flowers on this card, though it's hard to tell.  There are 3 on the bottom.  Some of my gals will probably move the 1 bloom.  I kinda think it would have been better in another spot. Also, I will change the back embossing as my wood embossing folder wants to cut my paper! Don't like this at all!

I stamped the white circle before embossing it.  Not sure if I like that or not.  I used Momento inks for stamping the flowers and the You.  I used Fun Stampers Journey's Whip Cream ink to stamp on the black.

With the close up of the sentiment I can see that the white ink kinda smudged but otherwise it's hard to see it.  I double stamped the sentiment otherwise it was a little bit faint.
