Cactus Power

I purchased a cool cacti stamp from Scraps of Love while I was in Phoenix. To me it needed to be black embossed. Since I didn't have any black embossing powder with me I made this card this week here at home. I have to admit that the Scraps of Love store has a HUGE variety of stamping and scrapbooking products and one can easily spend a small fortune shopping!

After embossing I used my Spellbinders Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers to color.  I scribbled the colors desired on my glass mat then used my Blending Brushes to add water then apply. I then trimmed to the size I wanted and layered on a piece of Black Licorice card stock. After completing the card I added some Nuvo Jewel Drops Strawberry Coulis to the flower centers.  I love how this dries translucent!

I really should have used a detail white embossing powder for the sentiment but at least it can be read.  I'm not very good at this kind of watercoloring but I think it turned out pretty good.

How do you like this?

Christmas Snowflakes

These are the last of the cards I worked on while at the retreat. I did pretty good with all the cards, scrapbook pages, and the folio book (you'll have to check my July 15, 2020 video for the book and the die I used on this card, the link is on my sidebar).

So, I made 2 cards, one is silver and one in gold.

Aren't these gorgeous!!!

Here's closer looks....

It was difficult getting good pictures as I used Fun Stampers Journey's Mirror Gold and Mirror Silver card stocks. They also show where glue smudged. The trim I used on both cards I got at The Paper Collage.  It was VERY thin and I had to purchased some 1/8" Score tape as my 1/4" wide adhesive roller was too wide.

I gold embossed the Christmas from the Holiday Script stamp set. It has 4 words in it but I preferred Christmas to fill the top of the card.  A few Fashion Gold dots gave it that extra bling.

Here's the silver card.  It was actually the first one I made.  I got a bit off with my cuts so it's a bit kittywampus on the card.

I used a die cut for the sentiment and cut it out of Mirror Silver paper, too.  And there's that cool trim!  I added Fashion Silver dots to the snowflake centers only as I think that was plenty of bling.

I will tell you here that the Snowflake Border is from Paper Rose. My friend Carol also got the Poinsettia Border.

Can you believe it's going to be August in a couple of days????

Howling At The Moon

I still have a couple cards left to share that I made while at the retreat a while back. This one uses a couple new dies that I purchased at The Paper Collage.

All the paper is from Fun Stampers Journey as that's pretty much the only solid card stock I have.

I purchased 2 die sets, Desert Sunset and Howling Coyotes, both made by Frantic Stamper Inc.  The Sunset one is quite detailed and I love how it looks. I should have made the moon more ivory as it looks like the sun. Oh well. I distressed the outer edges of the

Here's a close up of the coyote. Great detail! I die cut another eye out of black paper and glued it in then used my Stardust Clear Gel pen for sparkle. It only looks blue due to the light.  I added some FSJ Sea Stones for embellishment and some more Stardust Clear Gel pen to the sun/moon rays.

Pretty cool, dontcha think?

Oh, and no desk today. I didn't want to show my desk when I can't visit others as we're out for the day.

A Floral Cut Card

Yesterday I showed you 2 cards I'm planning for my August class.  Today is one more (and 1 yet to make) but this one is using a different Sizzix die set.

I used a gorgeous Sizzix Thinlits die set called Mixed Media #5.  I love that flower! It is a bit of a challenge cutting pop dots to fit it as I had placed some in the middle of the flower.

This die is greatly detailed so one must be a bit careful when die cutting and adding adhesive! The pink print paper is from the Create and Bloom Prints. I'm slowly using it up. I stamped and then splattered the die cut piece with Bubble Gum Silk before popping it down.  A few pearls finished the look.

Wouldn't this be a great card to encouraging someone?
