Black & Gold with Red

A friend asked me last weekend if I would make her a graduation card for a relative. Sure, I said! She sent a photo of the announcement and wanted me to use the colors in it.  I love how it turned out and so did she!

My first card she liked but wanted me to change something on it which was so easy!  And, I admit, the change was better.

And all products used are from Spellbinders or Fun Stampers Journey.

This is the first card.  Since it is for a young man I didn't want too much bling but still wanted to make it amazing.

This is the remake.  Definitely much better!  Did you notice there is no stamping? I did learn something when die cutting the sentiment.  I lined my card stock with a piece of White Liner Sheet then, leaving the die cut in the die I carefully placed the die on my card stock and pressed it firmly in place.  When I pulled off the die the die cut stayed.  Then I used my crease tool to press it into place permanently. So much easier than trying to glue!!

I embossed the layer of black with a diamond grid then splattered the layer with Gold Silk. Weird how some of the speckles look more  bronze.  The 2020 is from Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for Nov. 2018, Everything Under the Tree.  It's on sale right now.

I hope your graduates are having a memorable celebration!

Weaving a Happy Card

Yesterday I made my Wednesday FaceBook Live video on my Stampin Carol - Lots of Crafty Goodness page.  I did some weaving but it didn't really turn out very good so I remade the card.   My video is now on YouTube if you'd like to watch.

After my video I cut the original strips in half and added a color. This turned out so much better but it is kinda weird how the green met up in the middle!  I splattered my card front with Bubble Gum Silk prior to doing the weaving. The sentiment came from a stamp set I got free from Spellbinders.

I haven't tried this technique in a very long time and it does give a fun look.

Today I'm using the new Blogger design.  I'm having "fun" trying to figure out where everything went that I use!  Hopefully my post turns out good!

Workdesk Wednesday...

Well, after celebrating this blog hop's 11th anniversary last week it almost seems quiet!  There was some fun hype as the weeks led up to the 11th birthday and we were challenged to finish unfinished projects (UFOs). And our head desker, Julia of the Stamping Ground, shared a project as did many of the wonderful ladies in this group.  I really didn't have UFOs but I did find some card kits left over from classes that I completed or repackaged to sell.

Yesterday my desk was just finishing up prepping a card for my June class. You don't get to see much as I unassembled the card so I will have it ready to reassemble in my class.

In the center of my mat is a plastic box with the card parts.  If you want to see all the cards for this class you just need to go to my Upcoming Classes page and check out the June 26 class picture.  This card on my desk is a W-Fold card.  It will have a challenge to embellish the cover and I'll include a little baggie of flowers, sequins, and not sure what else yet. The dies I used are to the upper left of the box. There's some card stocks to the far left that need to be put in the scrap box. I needed to get this done before my video class on Friday as I want to promote my class.  We will be meeting in person in June but with masks requested (I can't wear one when I'm teaching, I have breathing issues). Tables will be distanced and only 1 to a table.  I know a couple of my gals are SOOO excited to get together!

Anyway, that's it today.  I will be working this morning on getting a project ready for my weekly Wednesday video.  Guess I better check out a couple ideas on Pinterest!

And Now Halloween Cards??

I'm still finishing some left over card kits from the last couple years and these are Halloween! I guess it's never too early to start. 😀

Both of these are from a class 2 years ago. I usually make at least 1 extra kit usually for me to show how to make the cards. Now the card on the right is WAY different than the original.  I actually screwed up coloring the pumpkin and it got tossed. The Boo print paper is no longer available at Fun Stampers Journey as is the little ghostie.  The cat, spider, and bat come from Fun Stampers Journey's Hey Boo stamp set. The alphabet and coordinating dies are on sale right now.

I don't use the Window View die set enough but it worked out great for this Boo card! I added Journey Glaze to the letters.  The bats on this card are from FSJ's Snapshot Frames die set.  I've used the daylights out of this very versatile die set!

I just love this little cat face.  I like the look on his face looking up at the spider and bat. I added Journey Glaze to his eyes along with the eyes of the spider and bat.

I still have a few more old kits but I think I'll change them up a bit. Don't know when that will happen...
