It's Workdesk Wednesday!

Oh my gosh.... already???? Time to show our desks.... already???? I just remembered last night and hurried to get a picture taken and this post ready. I'm joining up with Julia of the Stamping Ground and this is week 628.

My desk is in prep mode for this morning's video.  It's been over a month since I made one but then, being on vacation is a good reason. On the left side of my glass mat is a sheet of directions I was given for a fancy fold card. My friend Linda picked it up for me at our May monthly stamp club meeting.  I made it and it is sitting just past the sheet and you can see it sitting in front of the little wooden crate of tools. The paper I used it to the right along with the pieces I've started prepping for the video.

I'm sorry that I didn't get around much last week. Stuff started happening, my dad ended up in the hospital (discharged a couple hours later with a bad flare up of gout), more appts., and a lot of frustration.  Hopefully this week will be better. So far, so good.

So, now please head over to Julia's and check out more desks and even some projects.

A Father's Day Llama

I was getting my cards together for Father's Day when I realized I needed 2 more! I wanted to use some left over pieces from prepping for an upcoming class and this card developed.

I started with making the base for this card.  I have oodles of little squares from making frames for this month's class. From there I needed to figure out what to put on the cover. I looked through my stash and seen this fun die set by Sizzix that I got from It's no longer available from them probably because it's rather old. (But they do have oodles of great llama products!)

I stamped the sentiment on 2 colors of card stock. I cut out the "HAPPY" from the yellow and layered it on the cream. Boy, that made it pop! And I layered the llama's saddle. Isn't this a hoot! And my Bearly Art Glue was perfect with its tiny tip for gluing the reins on the llama!

Did you get all your cards in the mail on time?

Foiling and Foiling

Last Friday I showed you a card that I foiled over a foiled image. This card was my first attempt that failed but I then tried something different.

(This post contains affiliate links.  When you shop through my links {most are at the end of my post} I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you! Thanks for your support!)

My first attempt at foiling over foiling is under the 2 butterflies. A total failure on both. So I foiled the butterflies on separate pieces of card stock and the top one didn't turn out.  Seems I need to shim these when I run them through my Platinum. So, I refoiled over them using gold foil. The bottom one turned out wonderful but the top one... well, the gold is rubbing off and letting a lot more of the under foil show. But really, that is pretty cool! The butterflies are from Spellbinders Glimmering Butterflies set and the sentiment is from their More Sentiments set.

Here's a close up of them before putting them on the card. I offset the foiling just a hint on purpose.

Here's an even closer look. I LOVE this! I then popped them over the oops ones.

I have to admit I'm in love also with Spellbinders new Best Ever Craft Tape.  I'm using the daylights out of it with all this foiling!

I think I now have the hang of foiling over foil! Next lesson... pre-coloring before foiling!

I'm Back to Foiling

I'm still doing the Glimmer Hot Foil Bootcamp for Wholesalers by Spellbinders and am learning so much! Wednesday I tried another technique and had a fail and a success!

Everything on this card is foiled, no stamping!

This technique was foiling over foiling! My bootcamp called it Foiling with Multiple Colors. I started with the beautiful silver circle then foiled the green leaves directly on top! The sentiment is from Yana's Special Sentiments from Spellbinders and the flowers & leaves are now retired. The blue pearls are from my stash.

I hope to finish this bootcamp soon. I have 7 more videos to watch and learn from!

Over The Garden Gate

I've had Spellbinders' May Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month die set sitting on my desk for a couple weeks and finally made it! Oh my gosh but it is pretty!

But what is really sad is I still have the APG April Die of the Month still sitting on my desk!  Anyway, while at CASAS Paper Crafters club meeting last Saturday I made the gate!!

Isn't this just gorgeous!!!  It's 5 layers! And if there are any of this die set available it will be on Spellbinders Club Kits page the 10th of this month.

I used white 80 lb. paper but the top trellises are a bit wobbly. May need to use heavier weight next time.

I grabbed a bunch of colored scraps to make the flowers, vines, etc. The sign was stamped using the Mini Greetings stamp set. The video for this card showed using thread to make the loops to hang the sign but I found using jump rings way easy! Besides, can you tie a loop the size of the jump rings?

Under the wreath is the gate latch. I was supposed to use a black mini brad to attach but, since I didn't have one with me and I didn't plan on making this to open I just glued it down. Besides, it's covered with the wreath so who cares!

Since I die cut oodles of branches and flowers I added flower pots at the bottom corners. Very simple embellishments. I used only my Bearly Art Glue on this card.  I love its itty bitty tip! Sadly my Quick Stick quit sticking while making this so I had a bit of a challenge adhering the small pieces. It's on my want list for my next order.

This card will be a birthday card for a friend who recently had a birthday. I gave it to her last night, she was thrilled!
