Silent Night

Recently I purchased a gorgeous die cut by Creative Expressions through Scrapbook.com. It's called Bethlehem Edger and it is beautiful.

I made this using black and white card stocks to see how the silhouette of the die would look against a shiny sky/stars paper from my stock.

Trying to photo the sky paper was very difficult due to reflection and glare but this is pretty good.  I think the black silhouette is more dramatic and it's my favorite.

I angled my card so the glare wouldn't be so bad but you can see the rainbow of colors in the background.

I may have to find a darker background for white to work. I added 3 gems to each card for fun.

I did have to barely shim the die when cutting as some of the really tiny cuts didn't cut all the way through.  I just took a piece of copy paper and folded it into quarters and used that. It worked well. My Tool 'n One was a great asset in getting those tiny pieces removed. I also used my Bearly Art Glue on the small areas as the fine tip was great to get a dot of glue where needed.

So, which card is your favorite?

Sending You Sunshine

I just got in a new slimline embossing folder from Spellbinders called Diagonal Stripes Slimline and wanted to play with it. I found a die set, also by Spellbinders, that I had pieces left over from another project and I decided to use them. So, I was off and running!

I had to use my large Platinum machine to emboss this as it was too long to fit in my Platinum 6.

It is kinda hard to see the embossing in the full picture but look close!  The scene was made using their June Small Die of the Month called Colorblock Landscape.  I really like this set!

I had all but the cacti already cut so this card came together pretty fast!

The sentiment is from their June Clear Stamp of the Month, Circle of Sunshine. I love how all of their June clubs worked together! And I used an old Spellbinders die called Cloud Dreams to add the clouds.

This card might be used in an upcoming swap I'm in.  Do you take part in swaps?

Get Your Kicks on Route 66

Since Spellbinders is having a Stamptacular Sale through Sunday I decided to share a project I made with one of the stamp sets on sale! I've used this Hit The Road stamp set many times and still love it. I have the red rubber version but the one on sale is clear.

I decided to use an older Spellbinders die called Note Pocket that is no longer available. I love it for holding little goodies like this gift card or even cash. I've also put thin candy bars in it.

Here's a little closer look without the gift card so you can see more details.  I stenciled a die cut border (Border Details by Spellbinders) that kinda looks like tire tracks. I colored the truck with my Color Burst pencils.

I used the same color ink as the paper to stencil and stamp my background. Then I splatttered it with Black Silk. I think this turned out really cool! There are no coordinating die set so I fussy cut my images.

You can get this cool stamp set HERE on sale! Check it out.  Just scroll down a bit and you'll find it but don't miss out on anything else on sale!

A Trio of Pumpkins

Spellbinders is having a Stamptacular Sale right now so I made this card using their Martha's Pumpkins stamp set which is on sale. I have used this set a lot since it was release way back when. They do an another new set similar called Charming Pumpkins which is clear and has sentiments.

When I decided to make this card I had already stamped and die cut the pumpkins and they were in the stamp package ready to use.  Boy did that speed up making this! I used paper, inks, and buttons from my stash. The sentiment came from another Spellbinders stamp set called Happy Feast.

I made small bows on my fingers and glued them to the pumpkins. A few buttons finished the look. I know that to mail this will take extra postage and some padding because of the buttons but they really add to the look.

I hope you check out the sale by clicking on the Spellbinders logo in the sidebar then on the Stamptacular Sale picture. This sale ends Aug. 29.
