Great Inchie Card

I still haven't had time to get to my work desk but I found this card (hidden in some unopened junk mail) while cleaning off my table yesterday.  I got it the first of the month but with the son here the mail just got piled.  But I just love this card!  It's from my April swap partner in the AZ Stampers group.

I apologize for it being a bit kitty wampus but my scanner is a bit high and I can barely see the screen when I set stuff on it.  It looked level when I closed the lid to scan.  Oh well.  But, isn't it just lovely???  There is no stamping on this card, all the designs are pattern paper! And the cool  ribbon! WOW!

Now, if I can just find my mojo and make something!

Back home

We're home and heading out to work.  We had a wonderful weekend in Phoenix, AZ meeting up with kids, grandkids, and great grandchild!!  Spent 5 hours at the Phoenix Zoo which was fabulous!  Didn't get too hot, maybe in the upper 80's.  It was our great grandson's 2nd birthday and we celebrated!

This was the photo we had taken to commemorate the event!  From left to right:
Sky, Dean, me, Ryan, Christen, Mike, Rowan, Rylie, and Amy.
We petted sting rays and rode the carousel!  Got lots of pictures to scrapbook!  But I don't have any projects to show right now but hopefully I'll get some time tomorrow to sit at my work desk.  Hope you had a great Memorial weekend (I know Florida and Georgia had weather issues) and got the opportunity to spend time with family.

Aren't these amazing!! I may have to CASE a couple of these for my pics this weekend!

Crop Day In Tucson

Last Sunday I was invited to give a spiel on Memory Works at Susan B's crop day in the RV park where she lives.  Some of these gals have attended my classes at AZ Scrapbooking in Green Valley, AZ.

I didn't count how many gals but there was about 16 - 18 gals.  They are sure a fun group!  That's Susan standing in the center left .  She's also an instructor at the scrapbook store.

This is Andi G.  I loved how she embellished the card that I had everyone make using Aweso(Me) paper by Simple Stories.

Since I'm in Phoenix, AZ for the weekend playing with kids, granddaughters, and great grandson these posts are prescheduled.  I have my laptop with me to publish comments and check in.  And I'll be getting LOTS of pictures!  My next post will be 4 pages that Susan created using paper that Memory Works carries.  She is SO talented!  So come back!

Faith, Hope & Politics

I was watching Fox News this morning when this amazing young gal was interviewed.  I was so impressed with her Christian stand that I had to find her blog and subscribe.  She has a very level head on her shoulders.  Check her out, just click HERE.  She is a refreshing breath in this world.

I also didn't get a picture of my desk today.  I've been busy getting ready to go to Phoenix this weekend to see our son, daughter-in-law, 2 young granddaughters AND we get to meet our adult granddaughter, her hubby, and our GREAT grandson! I am SO excited! Plus I'm teaching a class today.  Busy, busy, busy!

Embossed and more...

I finally got the 2 cards for a swap done and mailed.  I know 1 has already been received.  Our theme for our AZ Stampers yahoo group for this month was "embossing".  It could be powder or done with a folder.  I chose the folder version.

I used my Wizard and the Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss folder.  BUT, under the stamped label  (by The Angel Co.) area it's NOT embossed!  I purchased a package of cardboard items called "Frame-Its Kit" from Stamp On It (Michigan)  this past March at the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo held in Tucson, AZ.

I kinda searched for a website on the internet but didn't see it. Hmmm....  They sell all kinds of goodies so I'm kinda amazed I couldn't find a website.  Anyway, if you click on the above photo you will see the square area not embossed.  I should do this on white so I can stamp the unembossed area... probably would be more noticeable.

The flowers in the center of the label and those inside are from a piece of left-over paper from a class.  I cannot tell you the maker of the card stock as the name has been cut off and long gone.  Oh well.  The stamped text is also by The Angel Co.

Going to the Dogs

If you looked closely at my desk last Wednesday you seen a card with a dog theme.  I plan on teaching a class featuring 4 "dog" cards in June at the AZ Scrapbooking store.  Ready for a peek??

The dog and hydrant are from a Magenta set and the text from a The Angel Co. set. The pattern paper is by Adorn It.  The bone brads (and paw print ones on card below) are by Zippy (?).

I colored all images with my Copic markers.  I didn't try to shadow or anything, just color.  Very simple.

I have a party today after church and have been told to prep for 16!!!  Oh my!  I've never had more than 10 and don't really have enough paper!  Will do some fast creating for this one!

Tool-rific, part 2

Are you ready for the other 2 cards for one of my June classes?  Well, whether you are or not, here they are!

I haven't decided if I like this one or not.  I basically don't like the scalloped oval as it's too "busy" a pattern for the tools on top.  But this was my hubby's favorite.  I haven't figured that out yet.

I do like how this one turned out.  It's a nice clean layout and I made the 2 background pieces using nail and screw stamps from the set.  I also sponged brown ink around the pieces.  I supposed it would be better if I used burgundy but that was an afterthought.  I still have another class to work on, it has a dog theme.

What's on Your Workdesk? Week 154

Are you ready for another peek at my work desk?  Again, I've been busy getting my class samples for June completed for an instructor meeting tomorrow at the AZ Scrapbooking store.  And thanks to Julia at the Stamping Ground for this forum!  It's a hoot looking at other crafter's work areas plus I get ideas on organization (too bad I don't have room to do some of it!).

I'm working on my 4th dog card when I took this pic.  I'll be posting these cards soon so you'll have to come back to see what they look like!  I still have 3 swap cards to make and a couple birthday cards.

I did start the church cleaning job yesterday.  It was a very busy day!  I had Bible study at 10 am, Zumba at noon, then cleaning at 1.  Got 2 large and 3 small bathrooms and a big kitchen cleaned in 2 1/2 hours.  I'm sore!  And since I work afternoons on Tuesdays, they'll be a Papa Murphy's pizza night or whatever.  We had taco pizza and it was yummy!  I will work tomorrow but will start at noon as I do have the store meeting at 3:30.  And as of the writing of this post I have a load of laundry on the clothes line and another load in the machine.  Then, off to Curves with my mom!  Gotta get her moving, she'll be 81 this fall.

You Are Tool-rific!

I've been working on my class samples for my June classes at the AZ Scrapbooking store in Green Valley, AZ this week.  Even if the classes don't go (no "students") I still have to be prepared.  I teach 4 cards per class unless they are a bit more complicated so I will show you 2 now and 2 later.  I used  a set called "Nailed It" by Crafty Clear Stamps and 1 by A|Muse Studios.

This uses both companies. I also used a Cuttlebug embossing folder, Copic markers, and paper by Basic Grey.

Hubby thought this one was pretty cool with the screw brad.   I like it, too.

Hopefully this class will be a go or at least I'll sell some kits (all paper cut & ready, images stamped - "student" colors and assembles).  They go for $12 and if I have to mail, I add $2 for shipping.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today we honor mothers everywhere!  I'll be joining my folks at Red Lobster in Tucson to celebrate after we attend church.  This wonderful day started by Anna Jarvis in 1868 and was signed by proclamation  on May 9, 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson.  We have been celebrating the day ever since.  And this is the card I'll be giving my mom...

The technique is called Cut Borders in my Technique Junkies newsletter.  The flowers are from a The Angel Co. set called Blossoms & Blessings and the text is from Red Rubber Designs called Contemporary Greetings.

I embossed my card front with an embossing folder by CuttleBug.  And I used a scalloped oval punch and hearts from the Clear/Pearl Gem collection.  Ribbon was purchased at a craft store.  I did have a problem when stamping.  I had to re-ink my pad and it was so juicy that I have a couple smears.  I hope I hid them well....  So please give a hug to your mama.

My heart does break for our daughter-in-law as she is flying to her mother's.  Her mom passed away late Friday night from cancer. I would appreciate prayers for Amy and her family for comfort and strength as she and her brothers prepare the funeral.  So again I say PLEASE try to spend some time with your mother.

Another Necklace & Earrings set... and Hail!

You seen my last post... you know, the busy desk.  Well, right before I cleaned it I finished another necklace and earring set using Shimmer Sheetz.  Ya ready?

I used the same hot pink sheet and embossing folder.  On this one I used black ink to make the image pop but it was TOO much black!  I cleaned it off then sanded.  You can see some of the black in the grooves.. kinda "antiqued" them.  I added a black gem to the pieces since the black didn't all come off.

You can see the design a bit better here.  And then Wednesday afternoon the sky turned nasty black, lightning flashed and the thunder rolled.  Then it hit...

Hail!  BIG hail.  Some was a inch across!  I think if it wasn't for this covering over my garden I would have lost it all.

This white stuff even made the metal awning leak!  A couple must have hit a seam just right and now it drips right in front of the door!  Dean will have to get on the roof and check it out.

Our yard looked really weird.  We got 1/4" of rain out of this.  I was surprised the gully didn't run. We really need the moisture but this is a bit more damaging than I like.  Vehicles are fine,  we park them under a HUGE mesquite tree that covers them nicely... and they both have bird droppings on them. Bummer.  Oh well! And now, back to stamping....

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 153

It's Wednesday! Time to show you my workdesk! After last week it's really changed, and not very neat.  I want to thank Julie at the Stamping Ground for this fun forum to see fellow crafters' workspaces.

Isn't this just horrible very messy!!  But I made a necklace and earring set using Shimmer Sheetz, an embossing folder, ink, and copper findings.  You can see the packaged set on the table.  To get a close up of it you will have to go to yesterdays post.  I do need to clean off my mess and start on some sample cards for my June classes at the AZ Scrapbooking store next month.  My last 3 classes were canceled due to lack of interest but so have most the other instructors' classes.  Snowbirds are gone and the economy just isn't good here.  (PS... within a couple hours of taking this pic the space was clean, another necklace/earring set completed and I'm ready to start making some cards. Wahoo!)

And I love Gooseberry Patch cookbooks.  I have 7 so far and one of my most recent purchases, Rush-Hour Recipes, has a recipe called Hot Dog Cupcakes.  Oh my gosh!  This is like a corn dog in muffin form!  I doctored it with chopped fried onions and red & green peppers.

Hubby took some in his lunchbox today.  He had 3 last night so I sent 3 today.  I can just eat 2.

I hope you enjoyed my desk and cupcakes today.  I'm contemplating taking a 4 - 6 hour cleaning job (2 days a week of 2 - 3 hours each) at our church.  If I can change one of the days (Monday) to Tuesday afternoons I'll go for it, so will need to visit with our pastor's wife.  I used to clean houses when we lived in Wyoming... did 2 houses daily every weekday.  And I painted houses, inside and out along with working for a home builder as a painter/go-fer.  You know, go fer this, go fer that.  Anyway, would appreciate your prayers for wisdom.  And thanks for stopping by!

Shimmer Sheetz Jewelry

Last Wednesday I posted my work desk for the WOYWW weekly post. You seen a fairly neat area but with a few packages of jewelry findings.  Yesterday I played a bit with some Sheetz and this is my start....

The top pieces I swiped with Black StazOn ink then wiped it off.  I don't know if I like that set or not.  The bottom pieces I swiped with Saddle Brown StazOn ink, let it set a few seconds, then wiped.  Much better results.

Here's the finished pieces with the brown ink.  I used all copper findings and added a crystal in each piece.

I like this! The brown ink gave a rather uneven color but I like it!

The earrings really came out different.  I did manage to add a bit more brown to the earring on the right but not as much as the left one.  The crystals were adhered with the I*Rock tool.  The chain on the pendant is 22" and I may try to sell this.  And suggestions for the price??  And any suggestions on the top pieces in the first picture?  The black was just TOO much black.  Maybe I'll sand them....

It's Green & Yellow... Ribbet

Mom needed a card for her pastor's wife whose birthday was a couple days ago.  Karen collects frogs and I so happened to have this cool frog stamp from The Angel Co.

I colored this cute little rascal with watercolor pencils then run it through my Wizard using the Beaded Ovals die.  He looks like he's ready to give a sloppy kiss!

I gave him a glimmer in the eyes with the Stardust Clear Gel pen. Isn't he just adorable??  Inside I stamped "Hoppy Birthday".  I'm sure Karen will get a kick out of this card.

Smile Giggle Laugh

I'm still playing with my Memory Works papers and have another to show you!  The paper is from the March Express Kit and made by Simple Stories.

I used a Unity Itty Bitty set called Smile. Giggle. Laugh. Memory Works does have the set on their site.
I colored the pinwheels with watercolor markers instead of ink.  I used my Corner Chomper on some of the corners for a bit of change.

I wanted to show you a close up of the pinwheels as I added a dot to the center of each with the Stardust Clear Gel pen.  Have you enjoyed these MW samples?  I guess I better get some more paper ordered!  Don't need any prompting to do that!
