O Little Town of Bethlehem

Happy Memorial Day!

Yes, I know it's still not Christmas but I've been making Christmas cards for my July 23 class! Today's card uses the absolutely gorgeous slimline stamp, Peaceful Night, from Scrapbook.com by Woodware Craft Collection.

I went monochromatic in browns.  You may remember the same card I made a few months ago in blues.  I decided to go non-traditional on this card.  Isn't it amazing! I colored with colored pencils and used PanPastels for shading.

I had a hard time getting a well-lit close up photo. I added Journey Glaze from Spellbinders to the roof tops and star for my bling.

I used my Stamping Buddy Pro stamp positioner which is fabulous for slimline stamping. It's stamping area is 7" x 8 1/4". I've had it a long time, I love it! And to die cut the slimline frame I had to use my large Platinum machine.

Another Christmas Birdhouse

Since I teach card classes I have to prep way in advance. This cool winter birdhouse will be one we'll make at my July 23 class. Isn't it gorgeous!!

I'm absolutely in love the Spellbinders birdhouse die sets and this is perfect for Christmas! (Click on the link to the right then click on NEW.)

I purchased the beautiful brown print paper from The Paper Collage in greater Phoenix, AZ. It's called Plenty of Pinecones. I'm using the "back" side. I've had this paper since February knowing it would be great for my Christmas in July class. I just didn't know then how I was going to use it.

I used a lot of paper scraps which is wonderful. And I used my Bearly Art glue a LOT! A few Sparkle Drops for a touch of bling completed this card.

I think my gals are going to love this card!

Summer Vibes

I finished Spellbinders Build a Summer Birdhouse card a couple of weeks ago and this is already mailed for a beach themed swap! But it is so cute I absolutely had to share it.

I find it frustrating that Spellbinders hasn't updated their data feed so I can add some of these new products in the list below with the other Spellbinders and Scrapbook.com links.

Isn't this fun! Again, I used Build a Summer Birdhouse die set but also the Sweet Birds on a Branch die set and Tweet Sentiments clear stamp set.  Did you notice the sky? I've used this stamp by Impression Obsession before, it's Lg Cloudy Sky and I got it at Scraps of Love in the Phoenix, AZ area.

It took me a bit to figure out that round thing in the top of the lighthouse. It's the light! I'm thinking I should have made the center yellow but then again.... it's not on during the day.

I was trying to make it look like the birdhouse was on the beach and the ocean had waves. I used Spellbinders new Raindrop card stock for the ocean. It's 100 lb paper and it embosses just a little harder than their old 80 lb paper.  My Bearly Art Glue was used quite a bit with these tiny pieces.

Funky Cacti

When I seen this cool die set, Funky Cactus, by Sizzix over on Scrapbook.com I just had to get it.  We have lots of cacti in our yard and a couple of these reminded me of them.

There were lots of tiny pieces to glue together but I find it fun and usually, calming.  I think I got the cactus paper from The Paper Collage in the Phoenix area but I don't remember as I've had it for a while and I don't have a lot left.

Look at all the pieces to make each cactus and flower! I added some Stardust Clear gel pen to the flowers and used mostly scraps. The 2nd from the left cactus has a scrap with white splatters on it. What a cool look!  My Bearly Art Glue was a great help with its itty bitty tip! The green oval is from a die set that seems to have been retired but is one of my favorites, the Scored & Pierced Ovals. Bummer.

Glimmered Odds & Ends

While doing Spellbinders Glimmer Boot Camp for Retailers I had a bunch of odds and ends to use.  I managed to get them ALL on this card and I think it turned out pretty good.

I used 3 different glimmer plate sets and mastered the basic glimmering part of the boot camp. At the time of making these I was waiting on a couple background plates and more sentiments and focal sets.

Here you can see the glimmered images and sentiment.  This really pops in person. The anti static pad really helps if you use it on your card stock before glimmering.  I had so much less over foiling issues.
