Owls and Hedgehogs

I didn't get this post ready yesterday like I usually do as I've been having lots of allergy issues.  Between the itchy and watery eyes to the runny nose I've been a mess!  But I wanted to show you 2 more cards from the September Bloom Box since today is the last day of Sept.   I still have 1 more card after this but hopefully I'll get that one posted on Monday.

I changed the position of the owls for this card compared to the directions.  Many years ago I had a Tshirt that had the 3 owls in this position and the words on it said, "Pobody's nerfect."  I kinda wish we had that text but I could have computer generated it. But the phrase here is just fine.

I used one of our Color Splash Pencils (watercolor) and a watercolor brush to color the background and our Color Burst Pencils to color the owls.  A bit of Silver Silk splattered on the background was fun.

I think these hedgehogs are just the cutest!  And the background was SO easy!  I put a few drops of our Blue Lagoon Splash on an acrylic block, added a couple sprays with a mister then laid a piece of our Color Splash papers on top.  I had enough color left over I wiped it up with a piece of Whip Cream and gave that to a friend.

I colored the little critters with our Color Burst pencils, a blending stump, and some baby oil to blend.
This hedgehog card is my favorite of the 4.

It's Workdesk Wednesday!

It's a gorgeous fall day!  We've been getting rain which is most appreciated for our dry dessert in the southwest.  I've been preparing for a Halloween card class Friday... done yesterday morning.  Yesterday afternoon I started on some ideas for an Autumn/Thanksgiving class for October.  And today I'm joining up with Julia from the Stamping Ground and many other crafters as we give you a look into where we work.  I've been taking part for a couple years and have made some friends from Europe.  So, here's my desk.  It is busy.

I have die cut a variety of leaves in 5 colors and a branch and have just splattered with a couple products from the company I'm with called Silks (looks like fingernail polish bottles). You can see dies and my paper trimmer to the left and assorted tools, ATG adhesive gun, and my Platinum machine to the right. And a new roll of removable tape (blue item by ATG gun) that I just purchased but haven't used yet.  I'll be posting this project sometime down the road, maybe even on another WOYWW day.  (I really need to clean up all the paper scraps to the right, ugh.)

This post is short so you can head on over to the Stamping Ground and tour the desks.  I'll be back soon as I have to take my dad and his wife to the airport today as they're flying out to see my brother for a few days. I did prepare this post last night since I have to get up early to load my car with suitcases.  Oh, and I have a friend going with us that needs to go to the airport and a friend joining me as I need to return a couple items to The Container Store and get different sizes.  Will be a FULL car!

Deer Friend

This weekend came and went so fast I didn't get today's post made yesterday like I usually do!  But I did get my September Bloom Box cards completed, went to see the movie Sully (absolutely fabulous!), went to a monthly stamp club meeting in Tucson, did some shopping at The Container Store (gotta take a couple items back, wrong size), and more!  Here's 1 of the 4 cards from the Bloom Box.

These 2 fun critters, the trees, and some phrases are from the showcased set "Deer Friends".  I just love the little hedgehog!  This set will be available for general purchase January 2017.

Don't Pop The Balloons

I accepted a weekly challenge from a fellow coach this week to make a birthday card using any FSJ die.  I seen a fab card on Pinterest and pretty much cased its layout.

I've not been pinning a lot as I want to make cards using the inspiration I already have pinned.  I only used 2 stamp sets on this card and as assortment of card stocks.

I like how this turned out and may have an idea who to send it to soon.  Oh, the little green brads are not FSJ but from my personal stock.  I have a large CraftMate container of eyelets, brads, and whatnots.

Blown Up

Turbo Teal
Sour Lemon
Outrageous Pink
Orange Rave
Electric Lime
Beach Breeze
Cosmic Grape

You have only a week left to order from the list of great tools at a 20% discount!  I just got the paper trimmer and it's great!  I like it as much as my Tonic one and that says a LOT!  I've been a Tonic fan for many years.  And I have a Bloom Tool since I joined FSJ and can't be without it.  So don't miss out, head over to my replicated site and click on the Tools tab.  Those items on sale will show the discounted price.

Now to work on my September Bloom Box.  It is just TOO cute!

What a Messy Desk!

I'm back!  I was on vacation from Sept. 1 - 18 as we traveled to Wyoming to see kids, grandkids, and great grandkids!  And boy did we visit some cool places on the way home.  I do have those pics from my camera downloaded to my PC but need to crop or edit or whatever.  But today I'm finally able to play but instead it's more like work as I prepare for a Halloween card class a week from Friday so my desk is a disaster!  And I'm glad to be able to join WOYWW after a long break.  And this great blog tour of desks is brought together by Julia at the Stamping Ground.  Be sure to head over there after you finish here.

I have paper, dies, stamps, my new paper trimmer, tools, and what not on my desk.  Funny how I can work around this and still feel productive.  Actually that's scary!

I did get some cards made yesterday for a special purpose.

I needed 3 so I made 4.  Makes sense to me!  All products from Fun Stampers Journey.  I used a lot of different ink pads to make these cards. Definitely bright and cheery!

I cut the text out and pop dotted on the card.  I even tied some white twine on the card for fun.

Now I'm done.  I'm still pooped from our 3100 miles driven but hubby really needed to get away from work and have some fun.  We visited a few museums, a volcano crater, a Pueblo ruins, and Monument Valley.  But please head over to the Stamping Ground and continue the tour of desks!  You'll see not only desks but many cool projects and great photos!

Boo!

Here's the 3rd of the 4 cards for my upcoming Halloween card class on Sept. 30.

This is about as scary as I can get as we don't celebrate Halloween but our grand kids do and so we send them cards.   The Eeek! is the only stamping on this card, all the rest are die cuts!

The fun spider web is from the Holiday Box Window Plates die set and I cut off the outside frame.  The bats are from the Journey Blooms Holiday Set dies.  And the Boo! is from the Snapshot Frames die set. All of these die set have other holidays included so you really get your money's worth!

Stamp set: You/re Batty
Dies: Holiday Box Window Plates, Journey Blooms Holiday Set, and Snapshot Frames
Ink: Black Licorice
Card Stocks: Citrus Cooler, Black Licorice, Rich Sorbet Prints
Foam Squares

Are you enjoying my cutsey cards? Got 1 more to show you so come back on Monday!

A Bat and Full Moon

Usually when one thinks of something kinda scary there's a full moon involved.  This card is no different.  This is the 2nd of 4 cards I'll be teaching in my Sept. 30 card class.

Doesn't this almost look like an old Polaroid picture?  I used our fun Snapshot Frames to frame the full moon and bat.

I didn't adhere the Boo! but used staples instead!  And the splatters are made with our Silver Silk!  Did you notice, no stamping!

Dies:  Snapshot Frames, Journey Blooms Holiday Set, and Journey Circles
Card Stocks: Mother Nature Prints, Black Licorice, Citrus Cooler, River Stone, and Butter Cream
Stapler and Silver Staples
Silver Silk
Foam Squares

This card came together quickly even with all the elements!  I love that when that happens!

A Trio of Pumpkins

I will be teaching a Halloween card class on Friday, September 30 at 10 am at the Earth School Wellness next door to the China View Restaurant in the Green Valley Village.  These cards are not scary but cute, perfect for grand children or great grand children (that's who will be getting mine)!  And what is Halloween without pumpkins?

Our Jack O Lantern Bundle is so fun!  You get 3 pumpkin shapes, 5 different faces, and 5 costumes!  There are coordinating dies for the 3 pumpkins.

I just giggle when I see these little guys especially when 2 are tough guys and the 3rd is a princess!  There is some detail cutting on the hats and face bolts.

Stamp Bundles: Jack O Lantern
Card Stocks: Tangerine Fusion, Fresh Forest, Whip Cream, Pretty Amethyst, Grape Fusion, and
Mother Nature Prints
Ink: Black Licorice
Dies: Journey Rectangles
Foam Squares
A coloring medium of choice (I used colored pencils on the princess hat)

I will need to be contacted by Sept. 29 (Thursday) if you want to take this class.

Silent Night

I decided to make another card using the gorgeous Winter Hills die set.  I seen a card by a fellow coach that really inspired me and, though I didn't case it, I came close.

This card is definitely simpler yet more elegant than my previous.

I used our Party Pop PanPastels again to make a moon and a bit of fog in the background.  I used a finger to blend the white and yellow edges for a more subtle look.  And you can actually see a difference in the layering as I adhered the back layer directly to the Denim Days base instead of popping it.

Our Silver Thread is a lot more bling-y than I can show in the photo.  I love our Brush Silver card stock, it just oozes elegance!

Card Stocks: Brush Silver, Denim Days, and Whip Cream
Stamps: Create Confetti and Silent Night
Dies: Winter Hills
Inks: Black Licorice and Whip Cream
Party Pop PanPastels
Silver Thread

I definitely like this card better than the last. Don't you?

Trees of Joy

Some of us coaches accepted a challenge a couple weeks ago to make a card using a stamp from our Holiday Mini.  I just got in my back order a few days earlier and I wanted to play with our Winter Hills die set.  This card kinda met what I was envisioning but still is off a bit.  I'm not sure what I don't like about the card.

It could be that I should have used the fine tip of my personal embossing pen instead of the chisel tip. Or that I didn't pop up the front tree enough as it blends in with the back two.  What do you think?

I used my PanPastels to color the sky, some white for the moon (looks like it's in a mist) and a bit of yellow around it.  A splatter of Silver Silk for snow flakes.

I die cut the Joy from the Snapshot Frames die set then layered it on our new Brush Silver card stock.  A few bit of the Holiday Elements sequins for fun.  Did you notice... no stamping?

Card Stocks:  Fresh Forest, Denim Days, Cranberry Bliss, and Brush Silver.
Dies: Winter Hills and Snapshot Frames

PanPastels - Party Pop set
White Embossing Powder
Holiday Elements sequins

I will be playing more with the Winter Hills dies as it has tabs to make it work for Bendy cards.  I have yet to make one of those.  Hmmm... a snowman in front.  Yep, ideas are coming in!

Giving Thanks

When our Holiday Mini catalog came out I loved the new Artsy Leaves Bundle, a stamp set with a coordinating die set. I had to play with our Color Burst Pencils to color.  I love how this turned out!

A few splatters of Dark Roast and Bronze Silks and some Natural Thread really adds to this card.

I used the Blender stumps and some baby oil to blend the pencil lines.  Almost looks like markers!  How fun!  This Bundle will be available until the end of September as that's when our Holiday Mini expires.  But, yes, BUT we will have another Mini catalog October 1!!!  Oh my gosh!  I'm betting there will be some very cool Valentine items in it!

Bundle: Artsy Leaves
Stamps: Autumn Time (words)
Card Stocks: Oatmeal Cookie, Sweet Pear, and Whip Cream
Ink: Black Licorice
Silks: Dark Roast, Bronze
Natural Thread
Color Burst Pencils and Blenders

If you want to see the Holiday Mini in its fullness, please click on the Holiday Mini logo in the sidebar.  Remember, it's only good through September!
