A Looking Glass Nativity

I  have a bunch of Hero Arts dies from their Looking Glass collection. My most current set is called Nativity.

(This post uses affiliate links to products I used. If you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you. Thank you for your support!)

I'm starting to realize I need the Circle and Square Frames die set as trying to cut the window out of my top panel was a bugger! I used various colors of card stocks for the layers and sponged color on the palm trees,  camel, wise men, and a touch on the top of the nativity.

Here you can see the layers. A splattering of diluted white paint was added to the sky background and the top layer.  I used an old Scrapbook.com sentiment stamp set for the white embossed front but you can use their Celebrate Expressions which would be great. I used Super Fine White embossing powder, embossing ink, a heat tool, and my favorite anti static embossing powder from The Rabbit Hole Designs, the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool.

Also used was my ATG adhesive runner, foam tape, and a paper trimmer.

I slowly building my Christmas card stash and hopefully this year I will have enough.

Stitched Pumpkins

I've been slowing increasing my stash of Lawn Fawn products and recently purchased their Stitched Pumpkins die set.  This is so cool!

(This post contains affiliate links. If you should purchase through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you.  Thank you for your support!)

This is a fairly simple card. After die cutting the pumpkins I sponged (using finger daubers and Distress Inks) a somewhat darker color of ink on their edges for more contrast. The paper is from Velvet Studio called Fall Into Autumn 6x6 paper pack.

I love how this card turned out especially with the splash of turquoise of the middle pumpkin.

Christmas Ornaments

I just can't stop from playing with the Birch rounds. Today's crafts finished a bag and I have one more bag to play with.

I made 2 penguins, 2 polar bears, and the rest are snowmen faces. I added fun little glints in the eyes for added interest.

I love how these turned out and all inspiration came from Pinterest.

Are you working on any Christmas ideas?

Let's Build A Snowman!

I have been having a great time painting Birch rounds purchased from a large craft store and I made 3 tall snowmen recently.

Here are the 2 tallest. I used popsicle sticks to connect the 3 rounds along with Gorilla Glue to adhere them to the backs of the rounds. I sanded the best sides of the rounds before painting.

Here's a closer look at the face. They are all the same.

Do you make fun little crafts for Christmas?

A Peaceful Bee

Sept. 15 I attended the Mesa, AZ Stamp and Scrapbook Expo and had the privilege to make the Make N Take card at The Rabbit Hole Designs booth. I was on their design team for a very short time and MaryAnn, the owner, holds a special place in my heart. We used the Peaceful Bee stamp set and coordinating die set.

(This post has affiliate links to the products I used. IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you! Thank you for your support!)

With the making of this card I learned how to use their A2 Shaker Acetate Sheets! These are fabulous! The images were pre-stamped and colored.  We also used 2 stencils, the Torn Paper stencil and the Tastes Like Honey stencil.  The Torn Paper stencil was taped over the Tastes Like Honey stencil like a mask! What a great idea!

Here you can see a corner of the Shaker Acetate Sheet. It is a full sized A2! The stamped and stencil piece is just a hair smaller to fit better. We also used their Bitty Bunny Blending Brush. That was my first time using one! Very cool!

Now I'm looking forward to making more of these!!

Let's Go Fishing!

I finally made a card from Rachel's class of a fishing tackle box! I'm sure most everything is by Stampin' Up! but I love the looks of this.

As usual I change things around a bit but I color blocked the front and put the fish on a piece of embossed vellum.

Lots of layers inside! I love how it looks like a tackle box! A die cut frame cut to fit the layers and lots of tackle!

You can see the layers better here. This card folds pretty flat but will require extra postage due to weight. Isn't it a hoot!

Rachel gets a lot of her ideas from Mixed Up Craft.

More Fall Gnomes

I just had to make more of the fall Gnomes but with different flowers on their caps. This will be the last.

 I made 8 total.

I used a flower die set and cut my flowers. A little light brown was brushed into the center of each flower before adhering the centers.

All those on Pinterest who inspired me, I thank you!

Let's Get Warm and Cozy

I love The Rabbit Hole Designs and was on their design team until recently (due to my illness). I was challenged to make an easel card (which is our fun fold swap for our local stamp group for the September meeting) and I used TRHD's  Warm & Cozy stamp set.

(This post uses affiliate links for some of the products I used. If you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you. Thank you for your support!)

I also used the coordinating die set and TRHD's Retro Christmas paper pack.  I added a piece of the gorgeous paper to my envelope.

I used a snow marker on the caps and colored with my OLO markers.  The fun little snowflakes and dots (on the sentiment label) were a gift from TRHD and came with an order.

Products also used were: Bearly Art Glue, a Blending brush, foam tape, paper trimmer, sponge dauber, and adhesive tape.

Have you made an easel card? There are many styles and this is the most simple.

Swap Cards & More

I have not shared any of the swap cards I have gotten in exchange for mine so today you'll get that opportunity! I have put the name of the crafter on each of the 3 cards but I cannot tell you anything about the stamped images.

But first I'm gonna share a cool card we made as a make n take at our local paper crafters group 2 weeks ago.

Barbie, who hosted this, called this a floating ..... sorry, I can't remember the rest of it. But we started with a piece of acetate die cut in a hexagon then added strips of paper. We then added the die cut sprig (I cut off 2 leaves to make it smaller to fit better and used the 2 leaves inside). We used foam tape to adhere to hexagon.

You can see how the "floating" looks.

Now for the swap cards....

This card used the mystery item, that iridescent film on the card and envelope.

This card is the SteamPunk theme. Love the sentiment on the envelope!

And this was the fun fold, a Bendy Window card. The back label only had Lynn's name.

I love doing these swaps and the Sept. swaps I was able to use 2 cards I had made way back when! But the mystery item is a short length of blue beads on a string so I'll have to think about that.

Snowmen in the Round

One day as I was looking over Pinterest I seen a bunch of cute snowmen made from birch rounds posted by many different crafters. Oh my gosh, were they adorable so I had to give them a try!

I had Dean drill the holes. I sanded the rounds then painted. I will definitely be making more!

Here's a closer look. And so easy peasy! Hope you give these a try!

A Holly Christmas

I've been eyeballing this cool stamp set from The Rabbit Hole Designs for a while and finally got it last month. It's called 1 Line Holly. Pretty cool!

(This post uses affiliate links to some of the products I used.  IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you. Thank you oodles for your support!)

This is a pretty simple card but has a lot of pizzaz! The gold embossing and gold splatters really don't show up as nicely as in real life!

I added color by first using my white colored pencil then going over that with the green and red pencils.  This card actually woke me up the other night so of course I had to give it a try.  I first used my Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool on my black paper (my absolutely favorite embossing tool ever!) before adding my clear ink then gold embossing powder. I had no stray flecks of powder! Inside the card just says Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas Pop-Up

When I first seen Lawn Fawn's Platform Pop-Up and coordinating dies I fell in love!

(This post uses affiliate links for some of the products I used. If you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you.  Thank you oodles for your support!)

I used 3 add ons to the platform die set: the Platform Pop-Up Hillside Wrap Around, the Platform Pop-Up Add-On, and the Platform Pop-Up Hillside Inserts. The stamped images are from the Toboggan Together Bundle. Isn't this fabulous! And it folds flat but does take a bigger envy than an A2.

Here's a closer look at the stamped images. I colored them with colored pencils.  The paper is from Craft Consortium's It's Snome Time 6x6 pack. I am thankful there are videos on this die set as I probably wouln't have figured this out on my own!

Have you started on your Christmas cards yet?

Boo!

I really enjoy Art Impressions MatchBook products and recently got their Halloween set of stamps and dies called MB Halloween.

(This post contains affiliate links to some of the products I used. IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you. Thank you oodles for your support!)

These small scenes in a matchbook are such a hoot and have so much detail!

I used my colored pencils to color. Also needed to make the matchbook template and I made a coordinating envelope.

This "card" will probably go to one of our grandchildren. I love how Art Impressions has a colored version of the card on the stamp package. Really helps!

Should you choose to purchase these items through Scrapbook.com here are the links:

Merry Christmas!

I recently got in a great new layered stencil and die set from Spellbinders and finally got a few minutes to play!

(This post uses affiliate links to some of the products I used. IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you! Thank you oodles for your support!)

I like playing with layered stencils and this set, Layered Merry Christmas Foliage, is a set of 6! I also used their Merry Christmas Foliage die set and popped the sentiment. You can also order these 2 items as a bundle!

I added some Stickles and Liquid Pearls to the flower centers and little round dots. Really makes the card pop!

Also used was some blending brushes, foam squares, atg tape, and best ever craft tape.

Have you used layered stencils? There are so many fabulous sets on the market.

A Sheetload of Cards

I recently took some online classes and, since I ran out of Christmas cards last year and had to purchase some, I got 6 made today!

(This post uses affiliate links to some of the products I used. IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you.  Thank you for your support!)

I was trying to use up some old paper and these used a 12" square sheet of double sided print paper. Didn't make a dent! The Merry Christmas comes from a stamp set from Scrapbook.com called Sentiments for Every Occasion. Sadly this set is no longer available but Merry Sentiments might work, depends on the size of the half circle.  Inside I used a stamp from Spellbinders' called The Winter Garden Sentiments. This, too, is no longer available. But I bet you have oodles of great Christmas sentiments!

The red dots are a cool glitter product from Scrapbook.com called Glitter - Ruby. I had to have some bling on my card.

This was a very simple card to make and I got the 6 done in about an hour. And it will not cost extra to mail! I'll be making more!

Another Halloween Gnome

I so love the Gnome Drive I Want It All Bundle from Spellbinders and here's another Halloween card I made recently.

(This post contains affiliate links to some of the products I used. IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you. Thank you oodles for your support!)

I used an old Fun Stampers Journey spray and stencil to make the background. A similar stencil is Spellbinders Star Bright. Spellbinders has no sprays but you can use just about any "paste" such as a Lunar paste or Solar paste.

I used a couple prints to die cut the hat and beard. Makes for an interesting look.

Inside I used the same spider web print to help frame my sentiment.

If you want to purchase the dies and stamps separately you can find them here:  Gnome Drive Holiday, Gnome Drive Halloween, and Gnome Drive Sentiments.

Also used: paper trimmer, adhesive tape, foam squares, Bearly Art glue, detail scissors, and MISTI.

Do you send out Halloween cards? Though we don't celebrate this holiday I do send cards to the family.

Mystery Item Card

At our July local stampers meeting we were given a rolled up piece of holographic film to use on a card. I hemmed and hawed and finally came up with this.

(This post uses affiliate links for some of the products I used. IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you. Thank you for your support!)

I layered my film on a sticky clear sheet then die cut 3 large and 6 small flowers from a die in my stash along with the scalloped oval. I stamped the sentiment using The Rabbit Hole Designs Friend stamp set

Here's a closer look at the film. I saved one of the little flowers for the envelope.

I added a panel on the card's inside and added the 2 remaining flowers.

How would you have used the film?

A Fishy Tower

My friend Rachel had a class a while back making this cute card. I believe all the papers, stamps, and maybe die cuts are from Stampin Up!

(This post contains affiliate links to some of the products I used. IF you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you! Thanks oodles for your support!)

This is a very dimensional card but it does fold flat to 4 1/2" x 5 1/2". You just have to be careful of the 2 turtles inside. I did change this card just a bit.

I don't think you can tell but the little turtle is attached by a strip of acetate so it looks like it really is floating!

Here's the view looking down on the card. Rachel cut all the paper for the class.

I used a piece of left over scrap and framed my sentiment plus swiped some coordinating Distress Ink on its edges.

This card took some time to make. I don't have directions but check out Mixed Up Craft for directions. She is so talented!

Out of my stash I used Pearl-Green Apple Pops of Color, Bearly Art Glue, double sided tape, ATG tape, and detail scissors.

Gearhead or Steam Punk?

Our local monthly stampers group has a theme card swap every month and it is Steam Punk this month. I'm not good at this theme but I may have come close. I went with a shaker card.

(This post has affiliate links to come of the products I used. If you shop through theses links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you. Thank you for your support!)

I used some KaiserCraft papers that I purchased way be when and it's not available at Scrapbook.com. I also used some of the paper to decorate my envelope.

Hubby went to the hardware store and got me some star washers as they kinda look like gears. Again, no stamping as this paper pack has stickers, too. My biggest issue is remembering to add the clear acetate piece for the shaker!

Also used was a paper trimmer, ATG tape, double sided adhesive, foam roll, rectangular dies, and detail scissors.

When was the last time you made a shaker card?

Happy Hallognomie!

I just couldn't wait to play with my Spellbinders Gnome Drive I Want It All bundle and here's my first card!

(This post contains affiliate links to some of the products I used.  If you shop through these links I may receive a small commission at NO cost to you! Thank you oodles for your support!)

I love how this turned out! You can purchase the 2 die sets separately, Gnome Drive Holiday and Gnome Drive Halloween. My background was made using an old stencil from Fun Stampers Journey. Spellbinders now has a similar one called Star Bright. I used a Simon Hurley Solar Paste called Beluga but Spellbinders has a similar one called Royal Flush. I also used a palette knife to apply the paste. I used my Bearly Art Glue to assemble the die cuts.

That Solar Paste really pops on the black card!! And it almost looks the the cat's eyes are glowing!

Here's the inside.  I used the Gnome Drive Sentiments stamp set. Adding the cat was an afterthought.

We don't do Halloween but all our kids and grand kids do so I will make "cutesy" cards to send to them. Do you make Halloween cards?
