Flowers and a Bee

I'm back to the new blogger. Hopefully it will work again.  Anyway, I again was back on Pinterest just looking around for inspiration and found a cool card that caught my eye.  I've done similar cards but not quite like this.

I have a special person in mind who will get this card for her birthday mid July. I think she'll  really like it.

Here it is closed. Pretty and cool!

And here it's kinda open so you can see that the card front is open under the bee!  The hive is actually stamped inside the card! I used Fun Stampers Journey's Hey Honey red rubber stamp set for the bee and hive.

Here you can see how I made the card.  I cut out 1 3/4" and used that panel to attach the bottom piece to make it part of the card front. The Happy Birthday came from FSJ's Inside & Out stamp set.

I used 2 different die set for the flowers.  The 2 big ones were made using FSJ's Bloom Creator die set and the little ones used Spellbinders' Fall Flora (Die of the Month - Oct. 2019).  The dots were from my stash. The card is flat as I didn't use any foam squares! The dot will add enough to require extra postage to mail this card!  I used lots of scraps to make the flowers. And the print paper is also a piece of scrap from my stash.

I colored the bee and hive using FSJ's Color Burst pencils and added some Journey Glaze to the wings for a glassy look. I see I didn't do anything with the eyes.  What would you suggest?

Celebrate with Pine Cones

Last week I finished all the cards I plan on teaching at my July 24 class. The class theme is Christmas is Coming! Today's card is the most challenging of the 4 cards.  It's a Crossover Gatefold card and it's similar to the one I shared HERE.

I think the most challenging part of this card is making the pine cones.  I splattered the sentiment piece with Fun Stampers Journey's Gold Silk which breaks up all the white.  The pine cones were die cut from FSJ's Brushed Gold paper then adhered on Cocoa Powder card stock.

I added the red strip across the pine print paper as the cones needed to be anchored.  I will make the double bow for my class attendees as it can be intimidating.

I used my new Spellbinders' Candlewick Rectangles die set for the inside red layer. And FSJ's cool Christmas Inside & Out stamp set was great for my sentiment!

I already have a few gals signed up for this class!
And can you believe July is day after tomorrow!!

Joy!

Today is my scheduled June class and I wanted to have all my cards for my July class ready.  I do! Today you get to see card 3. This came together so fast I was surprised!

For the class I may have to substitute the reddish print paper from my stash for another taking into consideration that today's class I had to make 12 kits + 1 for me to demo with. This class actually sold out a week ago!

I used Spellbinders' JOY die set. I've seen oodles of great cards made with this beautiful die set!

I die cut the Joy out of Mirror Silver card stock.  Not easy to photo but it really pops on the card! Plus with the Fashion Silver dots, on my!

It's Time for a Bacon Cheeseburger!

Yesterday on my FB page I showed making a card with a bit of a different fold. I didn't find a name for it but it's kinda cool. You can also see the video on my YouTube by clicking on the link in the side bar.

Can you see that 1" of each side of the cover are cut away? I think next time I try this I'll make the side cuts but adhere the side pieces down to the base. Other than that I like this!  I used some retired Fun Stamper Journey products such as the Build A Burger stamp set and the Backyard Party Prints 6x6 paper.

Here you can see how the card was cut. I added more strips inside to break up the white expanse.  The Happy Birthday came from FSJ's Letterboard Minis stamp set.  I've used this set a LOT!

I shared this photo yesterday as a teaser but it really belongs here. I've played with this stamp set a few times and I will probably more! I had to fussy cut the hamburger components as there is no coordinating die set, but that's ok as they were fairly easy to cut.

Wouldn't this be a fun card for a guy? Especially a teenager!
