Miss You Sunflower

I love Spellbinders' new "Create a Slimline Border" die set and recently purchased their "Sunflower and Ladybugs" die set. My favorite flowers are sunflowers and this card developed.

Don't the border dies really add to the card? And I have to admit this sunflower took me a bunch of time to make but there is a reason.

Did you see the little ladybug tucked under the flower? My hubby didn't until I told him.

But look at the flower center! Oh my! There are about 50 little pieces that I rounded a bit with a stylus then glued into the center. I used a blending brush and a Distress Oxide ink to add color to the petals. A few crystal gems and an embossed sentiment from the "Sunday Drive All-Occasion Sentiments" clear stamp set finished my card.

Don't you love this card?

Fun In The Sun

Yesterday I made my Wednesday live FB video (now on YouTube, click my link in the side bar) showing how to make the side step card we were shown at our monthly stamp club. This is different than the way I learned and it is really cool!

Since this was a make n take I do not know where some of the products used came from. I do know the lady is from Art Impressions but it's not on their website. I know where the die cut sentiment is from but I'm not at liberty to say yet.

This is the template we used to cut and score our 10" x 7" piece of card stock. We cut the slit the long way at 4" and from 1 1/4" to 8 3/4". You have to use a paper trimmer with a sliding cutting blade.  Check my video for how to cut and score the card stock. I'm not sure I can adequately describe how here.

Here you can see how the card is folded before decorating. Don't you love the sun? It's attached to a piece of acetate then attached to the last mountain fold before adhering the waves die cut. Just make sure it isn't higher than the tall area of the card. Also be careful not to have too many items on the 2nd and 3rd steps that are foam adhered. My starfish is high enough to allow the card to lay flat.

This card will fit in a 5" x 7" envelope and will require extra postage.  And you can change the location of the slit in the card to either widen or make narrower the tall step. I didn't use much of my stash as so much was part of the kit.

I'll be making another one of these as my swap card for next month's class. I have a couple ideas running through my head....

Workdesk Wednesday 673

It's week 673 for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday and I am needing to finish getting my desk ready for my video shortly. But first I'm linking to The Stamping Ground blog and joining Julia and many other brave souls willing to share their desks this fine day. I won't be here next week as I'll be in the greater Phoenix, AZ area having fun at a 4 day scrapbooking retreat with my friend, Carol. Yes, we are known as Carol Squared. I don't scrap but I do make cards and I'll be taking 3 large full rolling totes, 1 craft tote, an Ott light, and, oh yeah, some clothes! I'll be sharing pics on my FB page, Stampin Carol - Lots of Crafty Goodness, if you want to check out the fun.

But now my desk....

There's 2 coffee cups I purchased for us to use at the retreat. They fit our weird sense of humor and could be considered political by some but I didn't see it that way when I purchased them. Then there is the card I made at our local stamp club that I'll be showing how to make today. It's a side step card but the folds are different than what I originally learned and taught years ago. Other than that my desk hasn't changed much.

My dad has recently been diagnosed in the early stages of Alzheimers and this weekend is his birthday. My brother and his wife are coming from the Denver, CO area to help celebrate as we don't know how this disease is going to progress. We're having a party on his Bday and have invited cousins and friends. If you're so inclined prayers for him are appreciated. So far his memory loss is being kept at a minimum with medications. He is still able to drive without any issues.

So, that's it for today. I managed to get around to everyone last week (I think). We'll see what happens today! And all you deskers, I plan on being back in 2 weeks!

Butterfly Love You

Have you seen Spellbinders' new border detail dies, "Create A Slimline Border"? Four great dies that really can add to your card! I also used the new "Create a Flutter and Flower Bow" die set on this card.

Isn't this gorgeous? Wouldn't this be great for an anniversary card or some special occasion?

And isn't this butterfly bow beautiful! I added 3 itty bitty silver crystals for bling. The sentiment is from their "Love You More" die set.  I love how this turned out!

Fun Gift Tags

I make a few gift tags during the year and even take part in a special swap in November so when I seen Spellbinders "Create a Decorative Tag" die set I had to have it. I also used their new "Create a Flutter & Flower Bow" die set and had fun making these 2 tags!

I was having much fun making these!

I embossed the sentiment from their "Let's Celebrate Sentiments" clear stamp set with gold powder. I used my Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool to eliminate the static from the tag (love this tool!).  I cut the flower and leaves from some glitter paper that I have. It really sparkles in person!

I was thinking of a pinata on a windy day for this tag. Sometimes my imagination does run a little strange....

Both tags use dots and twine from my stash.

Which tag is your favorite?
