Thinking of You

When I design cards for my classes I don't really worry about whether they're from my affiliates but more about whether my class ladies will like them. This card uses a retired Spellbinders embossing folder but a cool vertical stamp from a set I got from Scrapbook.com.

I used a cut and emboss folder from long ago that both embosses and cuts out designs in one pass. But isn't that sentiment cool!

I added Lavender Lace Liquid Pearls to the embossed dots for a bit of bling. They're kinda pastel colored so they don't really pop too much which I think is nice as I didn't want to detract for the embossing.

Have you used an embossing folder like this?

Fin-Tastic Day!

My monthly class is today and I try to have my next month's class cards available so my "gals" can see them. I was asked to have more masculine cards so here's one using Art Impressions' "Reel Great Guys" stamp set.

Though here in southern AZ there aren't that many places to fish much less boat, we have a lot of snowbirds who come from places with great fishing lakes. The cool plaid paper is from The Paper Collage in the greater Phoenix area and it is available through Pam's website. She designs her own paper and I purchase quite a bit of it for my classes.

I colored with my PrismaColor pencils and probably should have added some Glaze 'N Glue by Spellbinders to the water. I still can but maybe later. I added 3 green gems to the top of the card and that's the only "bling" I'll use.  And don't be shocked! There's NO die cuts on this card!

Do you have guys or gals that love to fish in your family?

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:4-7

Bee Happy Gnomes

I finally took the time to play with a new to me Lawn Fawn die set called Swish 'n Pop Pull Tab. Thank goodness Scrapbook.com has a video on how to use this! And I think my card turned out pretty good for a first try!

I decided to use this cute Tulla & Norbert stamp and die set by Photo Play. I love these little gnomes.

The top photo shows the pull tab at the bottom right closed and the bee is far right on the card.  The bottom shows the pull tab pulled and the bee is kinda center left.

Here's a short video showing how it works. Oh my gosh this is fun! It stuck a bit at the beginning but a little harder pull and it started working. I LOVE this!!

I used a grass die from Rubbernecker that I purchased at a Stamp & Scrapbook Expo last year. The brown hill was die cut from a Spellbinders die set as were the flowers (left over from a previous project) and clouds.

I'll be playing more with this interactive die set! How fun!

It's Workdesk Wednesday!

Ah, Wednesday. Hump day. Mid week. Whatever. But to a few of us it's What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. We give you a look at where we craft in whatever shape it's in when we remember to take a picture. And we link up with Julia of the Stamping Ground so we can check out each other's desks.  My desk may look a bit staged but I have a few things out to help me decide what to make for a special card for my February class. Since I have a class this Friday I want to share the next month's cards. Right now I have 3 of the 4 cards ready but this 4th card is eluding me.

I have also changed out the little tool "corral" between my ink rack and glass mat as it was in the way of my inks after I purchased a bunch of Distress Oxides on sale! This little 3 tiered thing is from my trolley. My "corral" is now in its place. I keep short stuff in this rack which works fine but I haven't trained my hands where to reach for the taller stuff yet.

So, far left is a huge pile of GKW (goodness knows what) that really needs to find a better place. There is a white tray on top of some dies just left of my mat. That's the beginning of a project I need to finish real soon, like tomorrow! On my mat are a couple of old Spellbinders Cut N Emboss folders and a package of vertical stamps and my TV remote. Far right you can see the edge of my Magic Mat sitting on my Platinum 6.

I hope you're doing well. We had to replace our hot water heater last Thursday and purchase a new small freezer on Friday. Most our freezables are now at our church in their freezer, 17 miles away.  We'll have our new one sometime next week.

Cool Birthday

Our oldest son's birthday is coming up faster than I was prepared so yesterday I made this special card for him using a new to me stamp set from The Rabbit Hole Designs called "Tastes Like Summer." I also used its coordinating die set.

I found the print papers in my stash and cut out a hat from one to put on the bunny's head.

This made me giggle and I hope our son gets a kick from it. I colored my image with colored pencils. The gems are from my stash, too.

I have to mail this today hoping it gets to him on time. I'll be using this cute stamp set in an upcoming class. There are some really cute projects on The Rabbit Hole Designs' website. Check them out by clicking on their website above!

Oh, and no video tomorrow as I'll be doing one on Friday after my class.
