Ready to Video Desk

I know a few who watch my videos but they have no idea what I go through to prep. Other than the card I have to set up my desk with my phone cable (altered to work the way I want) and the covering of my glass mat with my website name taped to the top of my mat.

But today is the day I join in with many others and link to Julia's Stamping Ground blog. I missed the last 2 Wednesdays due to dentist appts. and other events. Even today I will be heading out after my video to run errands with hubby but will be able to visit fellow deskers the rest of the week. Today celebrates week 635.

I have ready in the upper right corner a completed card and the one ready to assemble as I show a card from our monthly stamp club called "Book Binding Pop Up." Basically it has an explosion type inside. I had to alter it as the directions given didn't work for me.

So, on the far left that white cable is my phone holder.  It's actually 2 separate cables zipped tied together.

The blue cable ends about 1' from the clamp. This clamp swivels the way I need it to. The other clamp just didn't work but it is sturdy and clamps to my table. I have a piece of heavy cardboard to support the cable which helps keep my phone steady.

Here my phone is in the clamp. I start with taking a "selfie" then turn my phone so it then is aimed at my desk. I have been looking for a suspension type holder so that my phone is landscape but have not found anything that will fit my situation. I'll keep looking.

I'll be doing my video possibly at 8 am my time so that I can get it downloaded to my computer then uploaded to YouTube. That way I can be done quickly so I can go with hubby.  He said we'd have lunch at my favorite place, Cracker Barrel, as they have Broccoli Cheddar Chicken only on Wednesdays! And this dish is SOOOOO good! He'll have his favorite, Chicken & Dumplings.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my set up. And I hope you'll head over to the Stamping Ground and check out more desks!

WOw Carol that is a lot to organise to make a video. I believe I will just stick with the daily blogging although I admire people like you who take the time. Hope the recording goes/went well. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

Nice set up! I can't imagine how the people who try to work around a tripod manage it! Very clever - and oh Cracker Barrel. Good soup indeed. I can't even think when last I had that. Lucky you :)

Happy WOYWW.

Nice set up you have there. I have thought about a tripod but feel that it would just be forever in the way. Happy WOYWW! Elle #20 this week

I am full of envy of people who shoot videos regularly; not having ever tried it. Your setup looks great though. Hope you got done in time to go enjoy lunch! Helen #4

That is quite some set up to make the videos and then you have to present them, I’m very impressed, I wouldn’t know where to start! Hope you had a lovely lunch, I’d have been torn between your two choices, lol!

I totally believe the tactics logistics difficulties and frustrations involved in a YT vid Carol, I’ve watched so many that haven’t truly worked out…cameras start to droop slowly, voices off, sounds off, camera drops, samples break, oh, you name it. I totally admire that you do them at all, let alone that yours are always so good…for example, changing the instructions so that the likes of I aren’t completely lost! Hope the lunch was as lovely as it sounds!

That's an impressive setup for your phone, Carol. I need to rig up mine as well - it's far too much hassle using my old video camera these days, with tranferring and converting the videos before I can edit them. Your pictures have reminded me that I need to put some more thought into this.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Enjoyed reading and looking at what you have been up to.
I haven't been active on WOYWW for such a long time and I lost my Artistic mojo ages ago. I am hoping for inspiration looking at prolific artists like yourself.
