Build a Magnolia

Yesterday I assembled this card using Altenew's "Build A Flower: Magnolia" stamp set & die.  My first attempt didn't look good but my 2nd turned out gorgeous! I made a FB live video as I was putting the card together and  I also have it on my YouTube channel.

I chose not to show how to stamp this gorgeous flower as there are pretty decent directions on the back of the package plus on Altenew's website. And watching me stamp this would be like watching paint dry.  (I used to paint houses for a living, inside and out.)  I used mostly the little Momento Dew Drop dye inks for stamping as I have the worst time getting a good image with my fusion inks.  (I think it's mostly me, not the inks.) I did use FSJ's Whip Cream ink on the black piece then heat set it so it wouldn't smear.

You can see in the close up that the base color didn't stamp solidly but I like the effect I got. I used 3 colors for the flower and 2 for the leaves.  I used my Stardust Clear Gel Pen on the veins of the petals and leaves for a bit of bling.  A few Fun Stampers Journey pearls finished the card.

It does take a bit of patience to make this flower.  I'm glad I had a stamp positioner to help me keep the layers lined up to stamp.

Have you played with multi layer stamps like this?  And tips or hints?
