Twas The Day Before Christmas

It's so hard to believe it's Christmas Eve!  Here in the southwest where we have warm temperatures, sunny skies (most of the time), and NO snow it is difficult to get into the Christmas spirit.  I am just recovering from a head cold and working today but I'll be getting ready to join church friends tomorrow for dinner.  I'm bringing a green bean casserole and some dinner rolls.

But I want to share something I made back in October for a daughter-in-law that is quite the decorator!  Her home is a beautiful showcase of coordinating colors and styles and I'm almost envious!  She wanted a Christmas banner but the one I made was more whimsical than decorative.

Here's her mantle.....

Isn't it lovely!!! The reds and greens of the banner add the perfect touch of color (to my eye anyway)!

And here is a picture I took of it on one of my walls before sending it to her back in October.

Here is one of the tassels.  I purchased Christmas ribbons from the $ Store and sewed on Candy Cane Buttons.

I made numerous paper fan/rosettes and pennants using Kiwi Slice and Candy Apple card stock along with lots of retired papers. I think I used Rainbow Drops to embellish the centers of the rosettes on the green pennants.

The Santa is free clip art that I printed to a size I wanted and cut out. The length of the banner is 5'. I found some white grosgrain ribbon to hang the banner elements.

What do you think of it?  Do you make your own decorations for holidays?
