A Slide & Lock Card

I found this style card on Pinterest and was intrigued! It basically is a gatefold card but it has a unique way to keep it closed! How cool!

From this view you're probably thinking it's a standard gatefold with  the focal point adhered to one side and maybe using a piece of velcro to hold it closed.  Nope.

The focal piece is the slide & lock mechanism to hold the card closed. The only issue I can see with this is whoever gets this card will need directions to open it!

The Praise the Lord stamp is a very old unmounted wood stamp that I purchased 20+ years ago.  I have a lot of Scripture stamps! The Happy Birthday is from a Spellbinders clear stamp set.

I didn't use many supplies/products to make this card and it was pretty quick.  In fact, yesterday I made a FB Live video which has been uploaded to my YouTube channel, the link is in the sidebar.

I started with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of card stock and scored at 2 1/8" then flipped it and scored at 2 1/8" again for the standard gatefold style. If there is a slight gap between the gates this is good as the slider needs that gap to fit! The slider can be any size or shape but you need 4 identical pieces of which only 2 are folded in half.  Those 2 will be adhered to one unfolded piece with their folds in the center back of the top piece... Clear as mud? The other unfolded piece will be adhered to the backs of the folded piece. See my picture below.

You can see the folded pieces sandwiched between the unfolded pieces. I sized my pieces to fit my stamped image.

This style would be great for any occasion! But remember, you may need to explain how to open this. 😃
