A Feathery Quail

I recently purchased this fun Hoppy Birdy Set from Art Impressions for a class. But it worked well for my Mystery Item card for our upcoming stamp group swap.  I love this stamp set as we have oodles of Gambel's Quail in our yard and we love watching them as they eat at the bird blocks we buy for them.

I didn't really work with the blue feather I received but it did add some nice contrast in my card.  I used my Tuxedo Black Memento ink as I like it better when using clear stamps.

I followed the coloring of the quail on the cover of the stamp set - kinda.  I used colored pencils and tried to get a bit of shading.

Here you can see a bit of the shading under the wing and at the bottom of the bird. I also added some light grey shading around the feet but it got hid with my sentiment.

Now to decorate an envelope and get it in my bag so I don't forget it!  I wished I could have come up with something more original.  Oh well.
