Desks and Coyotes

Today is weekly DESK day!  You have the unique opportunity to see my desk (photo taken last night) in whatever shape it was when I grabbed my camera and the desks of fellow crafters all over the world!  And the honorable Julia at the Stamping Ground brought us all together with Mr. Linky.  If you are new to my blog and want more info just click over to the Stamping Ground when you finish here and click on the "What is WOYWW?" page tab at the bottom of her banner for more info.

But today is also a sad day.  Eliza of Queenartoypia, a fellow desker and one whom I visited (and she visited me) almost every week, has passed away.  I never met Eliza but I enjoyed her posts and her pics of her cat, Yoda, who was always by her side. She left such nice comments when she stopped by.  My heart breaks for her family and friends and she will be missed greatly.

I'm right in the middle of making a pocket card.  I have the pocket completed other than adding the ribbon and a stamped circle to the bottom right of it.  The stamps I'm using are on the left in front of one of my ribbon holders.  The directions for this card (the FSJ "Kit of the Month" are inbetween. Far left my new Tonic trimmer and the stamp envelope.  Red Cricut, stack of cards, stamp cleaner and Ott light across the top from left to right. Far right is the handle of my ATG adhesive gun laying on some scrap paper.  I'll have this card done in another 10 minutes or so.

It has been a busy area the last couple weeks.  I've actually been a bit inspired while on Pinterest.  Well, I'm trying to make cards by looking at the hundreds I have already pinned! But I don't think these were inspired over there.  But my future posts definitely have  been!

I purchased the coyote die (by Spellbinders) last week and started playing I used a Spellbinder Label and FSJ stamps.  The paper is all from my stash.

I cut the coyotes twice, one in brown and the top "moon" in yellow.  I adhered the yellow over the brown then onto the labels.  Not bad.  I have other ideas running through my head for this die (if they don't get lost somewhere).

This colorful critter is a Gila Monster.  He was traveling by the church wall a couple weeks ago as I was working. This guy is about 1 1/2' long and did NOT appreciate me and another taking his photo.  I stayed well back as it is venomous and, I understand, once he gets a bite on something he does not let go.

Ok, you've reached the end of my post.  Please remember to click over to the Stamping Ground and check out about 60 - 70 of us that have been taking part.  Grab your beverage and enjoy!  And please, say a prayer for Eliza's family.

I'm so shocked about your news about Eliza; just blown away... Her family will definitely be in my thoughts today.

I've never seen a Gila Monster in the wild before but I know there are out there somewhere (going to church apparently). The coyotes are very nice and those ones won't keep you up all night howling.

I received the goods from your drawing yesterday! I think this means I have to motivate for some Christmas cards now!

Another Pinterest addict... It's great for inspiration, isn't it. I love your coyote cards, and the little pink "monster" is amazing - he looks so innocent and pretty - what a shame he has a venomous bite! I am so very sorry to hear of Eliza's passing and will miss her and Yoda greatly. Yoda was almost our kitty Beatrice's penpal across the other side of the world! My current health crisis has made me realise just how precious life is, and how I must not waste it, and not allow myself to become negative. Thank you for your lovely message and your good wishes for my next round of chemo. Although I felt awful the first week of this cycle, the reduced dose has certainly meant that it passed off more quickly, and I now feel ready to do more things, which is great. I'm glad you like what I've been doing, and I agree with you -- the funny red stuff did remind me of seaweed so that's why I thought I'd use it in my card - it is actually dyed branches from some sort of woody plant and it's very springy and hard, which doesn't make it very easy to handle, but I love the colour and texture of it.

Happy WOYWW,

Love what you've done with the new spellbinders die. Very creative ATCs. I've never seen a gila monster that tiny before. I hope little boys in the area know they are not to be played with. Creative Blessings! Kelly #49

What an interesting post your's was to read. I really like your coyote cards. I have not seen that die before. Your desk looks so busy and I like the "Faith" card with the hearts on. I didn't know Eliza as I'm a newbie here. She sounds a very special person who will be sadly missed by so many WOYWW friends. Barb #27

Oh, where would we be without Pinterest these days? Probably doing more crafting and housework, lol. I think I'd need an extra couple of lifetimes to make all the 'inspirations' I've pinned! Love that coyote die, not seen that before. And that Lizard! Wow! Have a great week, hugs, Shaz #13 xxx
