Plastic Lid Flowers

Last month at our local stamp club meeting we were given little plastic lids as a mystery item to use on a card. Boy, this was one of the toughest challenges I've had!

(This post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links {most are at the end of this post} I may receive a commission at NO cost to you! Thanks so much for your support!)

The first thing I tried was to circle cut a flower out of a print paper and adhere it to the lid. I fringed the edges of the lid so it would lay flat but I didn't like how it turned out. After trying various things I got out my heat gun and tried a couple things then the idea came to me. I started with 2 lids but lost one so I got a couple more from a fast food place and a friend gave me the little one. You can see the sizes of the lids compared to a bottle of Stickles.

I took the heat gun to them, flattened them, then got out a couple small flower dies and ran them through my Platinum.

Hum. I like this! After using my scissors and cutting around the circles (the dies did not cut through which surprised me then pleased me) I found the right print paper, got out my eyelet collection and voila!

I wonder if I'll be the only one who did this! I'll find out tomorrow! Pretty much everything I used on the card are not available through any of my affiliate links. Some days that happens!

Here's a closer look at the plastic circles. The card is flat and shouldn't need extra postage to mail unless the eyelets cause problems.

Have you tried this before?
