Last Workdesk of the Year

In a few days we'll be writing 2022 on our documents. That just boggles my mind! So, as I am preparing for this morning's video (a 12 flap pinwheel tower card) I'm joining up with Julia of the Stamping Ground for week 656. I missed the last week trying to finish getting ready for Christmas.

I have my card mostly finished and have templates ready to show. When I took this photo yesterday I had about 10 minutes left of prep. If you look closer you can tell it's a Valentine's card.

Much has happened with our friend whose dog we were caring for. The dog was taken to a local animal shelter that cares for pets of those in the hospital. The dog has gotten baths (badly needed) and nails clipped (badly needed). The facility even takes him for walks! But our friend checked himself into hospice. He's been so sick and he's ready to leave this earth. We visited him for a couple hours on Monday and I've been in some contact with his sister. She and her husband are coming any day to do what is needed with Ken's final needs, expenses, and all. This breaks my heart but Ken is tired.

Next thing is since I recovered from the virus 2 months ago I'm now having hair loss. Not extreme but WAY more than normal.  I found a support group on FB (over 6 K membership!) and the gals are very helpful and encouraging. I got 5 - 6" of hair cut off to jaw length. I almost cried seeing all that hair on the floor at the salon. This won't stop the loss but it make it more manageable, supposedly. And my hair guy gave me info if I need to order a wig but I've been told that the more severe the virus the more severe the loss. I had it pretty mild so hoping the loss won't be bad.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We stayed home and I cooked a prime rib that our daughter sent. And hubby assembled a pellet grill/smoker that we got for ourselves. Will try it out next week as we have so much prime rib to finish!

I got a bit long winded but so much has happened in the past 2 weeks!  I hope you all have a wonderful and safe new year!

You’ve done so much for your friend especially looking after the dog…practical help is so much better than just sending sympathies so well done xxxx. I’m sorry to hear about the hair loss too, that’s a tricky thing to deal with - that hairdresser sounds very helpful as with the support group. I’m sure you’ll find it starts growing again as your body recovers.
Sending you the biggest hugs, here’s wishing you a happy and healthy 2022,
Hugs LLJ 2 xxx

Sorry to hear your friend is so ill. Poor dog too. I'm sure your hair will start to grow back when your body recovers properly. My mother had covid last year but she seems to be fully over it now even at 93 though she has no memory of anything that happened during that time. You deserve to get better with all the good things you've been doing. Happy crafty woyww and hoping for a better New Year. Hugs, Angela x9x

Oh that’s a great service offered by the shelter, you worked so hard for your friend I’m sure he’s relieved that all will be well for his companion without you two having to do the miles, let alone the work. I feel for you all. I’m so sorry to read of your hair loss, it’s bad enough having to be I’ll without having to wait a couple months to know if it’s finished with you. I’m sure your new haircut looks fab, even if it feels strange. Was so surprised that you’re making cards, but then not surprised and then impressed that it’s a valentine…you never stop! Love to you for a happy and hairy New Year!

Oh my Carol sorry to hear about the hair loss. I thought menopause was bad enough but that seems to have levelled off now. Guessing you had long hair too, it shows all the more when you lose some doesn't it, hoping the new look will give you confidence and it will grow back in time. hugs and Happy New Year BJ#17
