It's A Pinwheel, No, Its A Tower. It's Both!

Yesterday on my FB live video (Stampin Carol - Lots of Crafty Goodness) I showed how to make a Pinwheel Tower card. It is definitely a 3D self-standing card yet it folds pretty flat and fits in an regular A2 envelope.

Isn't this cool! I would love to give you a picture by picture tutorial on this but I just can't. The making of the pinwheel does not come across with photos so I strongly suggest if you want to try this to head over to my YouTube channel by Clicking Here! But I can give you paper sizes and score lines.

This is the start of the pinwheel. Cut a piece of card stock 5 1/2" x 4 7/8".  With the 4 7/8" edge at the top score 1/2", 1 1/4", 2", and 2 3/4". Fold away from the score (so flip it over) and be sure you really give a good crease on all 4 lines. Use you crease tool!!

I can't tell you how to start the pinwheel as text just will not explain.

After you get the winged cube made (what else would you call it?) you will need 3 more pieces of card stock cut 5 1/2" x 2 1/8". These will be adhered to the cube. Yep, gotta watch the video!

This is what your card base will look like if you do it right.  And it will lay flat!

Now comes the decorating and I give ideas on my video. I used some great paper and a fun stamp set I got from The Paper Collage a couple of years ago. The stamp set is called Melted Snowman and the paper is Christmas Cactus Paper - Blue (sold out right now as it's super popular).

Did you notice that the cactus ovals extend past the edge of the card.  You can do this on opposing sides only.

If you fold the card right with the extended pieces on top and bottom then the card will fit in an envelope. Here is the card mostly flat.

And here's closer looks at the stamped images. I added Lace and Red Stickles to the snowman and Lace Stickles around the sentiment to look like snow.

I got to thinking after I made the card that there is no place to sign this card. I guess you'd have to include a note in with it.

So, have you watched my video?
