With Heartfelt Sympathy

I seen a cool card as I was blurfing the other day that used a large shadow stamp (large piece of rubber with no design).  Since I don't have any I grabbed the next best thing.... an acrylic block!  And I grabbed my watercolor crayons to try this.

This pattern paper is from a Simple Stories pack but since I had it so cut up I can't tell you the name!  This paper came in the March Express Kit for when I was a guest designer on Memory Works.  I scribbled the crayons on my block then very lightly spritzed with water before stamping on my card stock.  One thing learned, make sure you don't use the grid side of the block.  The grid left definite lines in the stamped color!

You can kinda see it in the close up but I stamped over it to try to hide it.  This stamp is from The Angel Co.  I like how this turned out! And I added the black/white twine for a bit of embellishment.  I may play some more with my blocks.  Have you tried this??  What do you think?

I have been doing my spring cleaning in honor of our son coming to visit.  Nothing like a little incentive to get one's rear in gear and shampoo carpets, clean bathrooms, dust, wash windows and blinds, and more!  So a quick head's up....  I will have a couple more posts this week (prescheduled) then I'll be taking the weekend off as I spend time with him and his girlfriend. I hope to be back posting the first of next week.  Thanks for visiting and happy stamping!

Carol, what a good thing to stop by your blog! Been needing a multitude of sympathy cards in this neck of the woods...that time of the year for elder friends and two family. Great idea, smart gal!
Watercolor crayons and a wee spritz can make a background subtle, calmingly colorful, and host to heartfelt sentiment. I can see that on an inset sheet for an inside right panel stabilizing a sheet of not too heavy 65 pound cardstock, too! Some manufacturers are really slimming their once sturdy paper weights causing a smart inset sheet to become 'normal' until that cs pack is gone/fine.
Hope your visit is memory packed and handsomely supplied with fuel, pictures, great places to share and lots of thanksgiving in laughter and praise before FATHER.
What weather blitz will you enjoy? Rain here is giving way to seventies. You are likely into the nineties by now the way weather patterns have been so 'early' in the resemblence of summer chasing spring right off the calendar page.
Hey! This watercolor crayon thing could be host to a wedding color combo to delight the bride and groom! Just thought of that after the President's address over tv. A couple here is challenged to up the wedding date into summer instead of mid fall now that his unit is bound for Afghan....making three units headed there this year from this area. They were looking at motorcycle safety equipment when I saw them earlier today. They were thinking about a trip. Sounded like they were 'notified ' last weekend that an early deployment was in the offing. Some serious faces greeted us. They are growing up together quickly these pending hours.
Happy crafting and delightful visiting be yours. mt23stamper Keep Looking UP!

That is really neat! I, too, am in need of sympathy cards. Maybe try it for masculine cards and also with some of the detailed line stamps for a different background. TFS
